The sad life of Mariposa, yes the butterfly.
This photo has been in my phone gallery for months, and I almost forgot about it. Thus, while clearing some space today, I thought, "Oh no! I need more for Caleb's pictures."

I saw these huge butterflies one night last December resting at the top near the ceiling. Apologies for the blurred photo; my phone camera isn't that high-tech.
In Filipino culture, significantly, our oldies believed that brown butterflies bring good luck, such as money. It could also be the soul of dead relatives paying a visit. I used to think that when I was a kid.
One thing I am sure of is that it belongs to the species of Mariposa.
Saw it on the ground the next morning when I woke up. Beautiful, isn't she?
Do you know that it has undergone a life cycle from a caterpillar? Back then, in the countryside, I collected wildflowers for the Flores de Mayo in the summer.* Only once did I see these green, huge, soft worms, with eyes that looked like worms 🤣. They are totally harmless, yet seeing one could make me run as fast as I could.
Not only that, but there are a lot in our soursop tree, perhaps because it has wide, healthy leaves.
As I looked closer, it seemed that this one had reached the end of the cycle. A part of the wings had been cut, and the body looked weak.
Have you noticed something? There are round looks like eggs.
Was it? Sadly, she didn't make it to lay in a safe place. Picking it up might not help, as it looks fragile.
Ah it died and my Mother was like, Oh, kwarta na, naging bato pa; 😂. LOL, I don't believe in such, what about you?

When I was a child, I loved to watch a fairy tale movie named Mariposa as she's the butterfly too..... This mariposa reminds me about that mariposa 😃

That is a lovely, poignant narrative on Mariposa. She didn't make it,but your photographs and narrative truly show her beauty and the circle of life. The cultural information you gave about brown butterflies in Filipino culture is something I really enjoy,it adds a very fascinating dimension to the narrative. Thanks for passing yours!
