Our father was rushed to the hospital; findings - CVD bleed vs infarct.

It was days ago, I woke up like a normal day. The past few days have been good, and my mood somehow was fine. Everything was in place , just I thought it was!

While I was sitting on the couch, holding Caleb, my son, in my arms, I saw that there were messages on my phone. Group chat in messenger with my sisters.

There were several screenshots of messages from my niece sent by her mom. The context;

Our father suddenly felt his right shoulder down numb. He couldn't feel anything and couldn't even lift a cup of his coffee.

I felt my heart beating fast, and a lot of thoughts ran through my head. I had that feeling that there was an emergency, but I was too far away to help.

I already called big sister E to get father at home and bring him to the hospital. My sister Liz was staying in Iloilo due to her work.

I called at home and damn this internet connection, I thought as I couldn't understand what father was saying. Until I realized that it was slurred.

In less than an hour, my sister updated me that my father was already in the hospital. His blood pressure and sugar were normal.

Thus, they administered dextrose and requested an immediate CT scan.

The results:

CVD bleeds vs. Infract

As I was not there to ask the Doctor, I searched on Google, and this is the explanation.

In cerebrovascular disease (CVD), a "bleed" refers to a hemorrhagic stroke, where a blood vessel ruptures and bleeds into the brain tissue. An "infarct," on the other hand, refers to an ischemic stroke, which is caused by a blockage of blood flow to the brain, leading to tissue death.

I know our parents are old, but we aren't prepared for this. More on that: We never wanted this to happen.

The assigned Doctor prescribes him medicine and requires him to be admitted to prevent something not good from happening.

I was thankful our younger brother was home, so he was the one who helps taking care of him as our mother could no longer bear it. We are far from the provincial hospital and coming back and forth especially taking care of our father? She might fall ill. Having one parent is already hard.

After days of medication, the Doctor required another CT scan, and we are still waiting for the results. As this is a province, I think the Radtech specialist only had a scheduled duty. It's been two days, but we haven't been informed yet about the impression of the CT scan.

He has been in the hospital now for four days, and somehow, he feels better. Thus, his body wasn't back to normal. Still, the right portion was weaker. He could walk but needed assistance.

Thinking about it makes me sad and worried. I know @asiaymalay, and I had the same feeling, as we were both far from home. If only I had been aware this would happen, I would have booked my flight earlier. Sadly, it would have been in the first week of June. We had conversations and were planning to go to Iloilo during my stay to unwind. I will be treating them for something they want; thus, I don't know if this is still feasible.

Just looking at his pictures lying in the hospital bed makes my eyes glisten and my throat lump. I prefer seeing him in a drunk state than sober but like this.

If only I had power, yet as of now, all I can do is pray for his health. 😩

The day he fell sick I was already restless. Woke up some more at dawn makes me feel something was wrong. My thoughts go to my daughter wondering if she was safe😖. I'm glad she was. It never crosses my mind that it's our father🥹. Still thankful he's recovering faster. Proudly showing me his hand that he can lift up now. Can even hold the phone😁🥰
