My first time receiving P5,000 ($87) cash financial assistance from DSWD.

Lhes, I am included in financial assistance, and the payout will be on Wednesday, my sister-in-law told me when we met last Sunday at the church.

Wow, good for you, I replied, as I was never included in such. I only moved here last year and have never joined any Brgy activities. Not expecting it at all.

However, while Caleb and I were already in bed at night, she called to inform me that I was included.

Oh? Really? That was surprising. Are you sure?

She forwarded the screenshot of their conversation. That was amazing, and we will be receiving 3,000, or around $54.

So, yesterday, we left home around 7:30 in the morning. Yup, quite early, but it was not a problem since Caleb wakes up around six most of the time. His husband drove us to the venue. Yep, I brought my son as no one could care for him.

When we arrived, there were already people in line for the attendance check.

The venue was a covered gym, and as far as I know, the land was the property of a certain politician. Now, it is usually used by a party list.

1000068867.jpg

It was huge, enclosed by a high wall, and impossible to get in and out without a gate unless you were a pro.

There are three big metal ceiling fans to avoid humidity.

Free coffee and pandesal to everyone who is starving.

1000068870.jpg

Monoblock chairs were more than enough for everyone.

When settled, we were given a DSWD form and a stab number.

While waiting for the DSWD employee, local government aspirants went on stage individually to introduce themselves. There are no more other details as it is not yet the campaign period.

So the financial assistance I am about to receive was AICS - assistance to individuals in crisis situation.

Honestly speaking, this made me think am I qualified?

Last month, the Brgy asked us to submit our National ID. I was skeptical and had no plan to comply. Why? I can't leave home to have my ID photocopied.

Thus, knowing this very accommodating sister-in-law of mine, I went to our house, took my ID, and did the job—even the one who submitted it in Brgy 😆.

I am unaware of how they evaluate me; I am unemployed.

After verification of the details versus my valid ID, I am now waiting for the cash release.

Thus, I only noticed that it was P5,000 or $87!

This could be used to buy a plane ticket to go home with Caleb!
The release took some time as it wasn't organized at first. Many asked for favors to be catered to immediately for various reasons aside from priorities such as PWD and senior citizens. Thankful, after some time, it was resolved.

When it was my turn, I observed that DSWD employees were fast; it was a matter of minutes only.

Got mine! Thank you DSWD and local government for processing.

Summer is here! See the blue sky at past eleven in the morning? Striking hot, so the brother-in-law picks up again.

It was a tiring day, but fine as I got some cash.

Thank you for sharing your AICS experience! Personally, not a fan of these dole-out programs as it is prone to abuse. Some politicians make it appear as if they were the ones responsible for giving it out, but it's really the people's money, not theirs.

I don't have any qualms about you receiving it though. You can think of it as a government rebate :)

I agree! We have the same thought and if only there is no incoming election I doubt I would be included.

Why? I am not on the side if current brgy officials but not opposed. Simple I don't care at all.

I paid taxes for years since I am working 🤣, so I would think this is where my taxes go

I studied about 4Ps during my masters, and it is really a great program which was patterned from Brazil.

The critical element for these to be successful is really on targeting the beneficiaries. It should really be the needy, marginalized, etc AND there also should be some milestones to achieve. Not just a simple dole-out. DSWD is the right agency to work on the targeting; however, my guess is that they lack the manpower so they delegate to others instead. Unfortunately, that delegation goes to barangay officials who do not have proper targeting procedures, or even worse to Politicians.

DSWD should be the sole owner of targeting the recipients.

What's happening is that barangay's simply send out information for "AICS" application. So usually, those who are close to the barangay and has time to apply are the only ones benefiting from it. Others are oblivious about it.

Ah yep, and if you aren't that closed most of the time you are excluded.

And this suppose qualified sometimes lack of knowledge that a certain program exist. Esp if they aren't registered voters.

Oo, brgy should only recommend , but there should be a evaluation from DSWD personnels

Sana all talagaaaa, why we don't have this in our place. Yingin mo ilang tao ang nakatanggap? 5k is really big ha and if there's like a thousand people, ang laki ng budget nila. And that's really a big help. Push naba sa pag uwi? UwU.

That is awesome, although for someone getting it for being in a financial crisis situation using it to buy a plane ticket made me laugh! Great you got it and that it was more than you thought before you went!

Hahha, honestly I asked myself to evaluate if I am qualified.
Yet, since I am included, I can't say no right?

But hey! I am unemployed so yeah, I am in a financial crisis
