Fledgling: Part 50
Greetings All
A nice short and sweet update. I hope you all enjoy it!
“Oh my god, I think I preferred you as a disembodied voice in my head!” exclaimed Saita.
“And I preferred…” started Kay but then she stopped.
She didn’t know what to say and that irritated her. As she grew out of her childhood, she had learned to take control of a room. Be it through her natural intimidation or through her ability.
Saita took a deep breath before choking out, “I need your help.”
“Finally! Only took you almost two centuries to admit it!”
Saita clenched her hands before her and tried to calm her inner turmoil. The pain from the wounds that Kay had caused still followed her to this day. She couldn’t look in the mirror without seeing the person who took away everything she had once held dear. Even when she had gotten her son and Bolx back, the nightmares never ceased.
The fear and pain Kay had instilled in her would not easily be dissuade. However, she needed her help. It didn’t matter that she could travel through time now. She needed guidance, and they were separated from their guides.
“Can we set aside our differences?” she asked.
“Sure. I mean, it’s not like you killed me and trapped me in your skull for over two centuries.”
Saita felt her mouth fall open with a retort but found nothing witty to say back. Kay laughed, rolled to her back, allowing her head and long golden hair to hang off the bed.
“Fine. Let’s hear you out.”
“We’re separated from Red-Eye, Rubar, and Fledge. I need Fledge to pinpoint where we must go, but I don’t know how to get to them.” Saita was relieved that Kay decided to stop with her games.
“I can call Red-Eye.”
Saita blinked a few times and felt bile rising up in her throat.
“If it was that easy, why did you do that yesterday?”
“You didn’t ask me, and I can’t read your mind now that I’m not in it anymore.” Kay sat up and stared out the window for a few minutes before saying, “But there is a problem in doing that.”
“What possible problem could there be?”
“All Wolven come when called.”
Saita mulled this over and realised the danger they would be placing this world in if Kay called Red-Eye. The crazed pack would descend upon this time too. She tried to think of other scenarios, but the only way she would spare this time the Wolven, was to leave it. That would mean abandoning Meedus to his fate in a time that was not his own.
“You were warned of the dangers of traveling within your own timeline.” Said Kay as she looked over her shoulder.
“And how didn’t your time get affected by what you did?” snapped Saita.
Kay grinned, “Because I ate it the first time I got free.”
And now, they plan.
