Fledgling: Part 48

Greetings Readers!

I have you Fledgling fix for the start of your week! I hope you all love the update!

Meedus’s attention snapped to the doorway, and his eyes grew wide. He then looked at Saita with a look of confusion on his face.

“Meedus, this is Queen Kay. I guess you could say, the Saita of this timeline.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you again, old man.” Said the queen as she stood against the doorframe.

Kay then looked at Saita and said, “Your Dragon put the fear of several gods into the Dekai King. I don’t think he’ll be back anytime soon.”

Saita shrugged her shoulders, “He was asking for it.”

“Be that as it may, I’d like to keep what allies I have. Especially those that know about your little friend.”

“We’re hardly friends. Where even is she?”

“Sleeping last I heard.”

“You left her alone!” Saita got to her feet in a rush.

“I did. I trust her, and so should you. In fact, I think the only way you’ll get what you need is by getting her to help you.”

Saita snorted, but Kay raised a hand to stop any backtalk.

“There was an agreement, and it should be honoured. You were the one to keep her trapped in your head, how do you think that makes her feel?”

Saita frowned, and Meedus laughed, “That’s the same look she’d have when my lessons frustrated her.”

“As for you, old man. I wouldn’t mind having the very advisor that used to work with my father. I barely have the necessary understanding to run a planet, and well, you need a home. I assume the two of you have already realised that there is no way that you can be returned to where you once were. I could use the help.”

Meedus looked at the queen, and Saita could see the fleeting sadness cross his face. The same sadness that he had when he had seen her.

“Do any of you get a happy ending?” he asked softly.

“What’s your definition of a happy ending?” chuckled the queen. “We did the best with what was given to us. I got what I needed, and she’s got to work on what she needs.”

Kay looked at Saita once more, “You need to get over the differences the two of you have had in the past. Yes, she tried to kill your son and husband. Yes, she tried to destroy the world. But have you ever asked her why? How many pasts have you learned of that involved you? She has a past too. She did things that are reflective of that past. You may want to find out more about it.”

“How come you’re so much more mature than I am about all of this?”

“I guess you’re just getting soft in your age. Go back to the castle, and ask the servants to take you to her. I’d say she’d be open to more talking if you presented a gift of food. Remember, she was trapped because of you. If you could forgive what Red-Eye did, you should forgive her.”

Fledge had been resting when a sudden jolt woke him. Red-Eye had been asleep while Rubar was on guard duty. Red-Eye was on all fours, panting heavily and suddenly whined.

“What?” hissed Fledge, trying to keep it down.

“Mistress.” Whispered the Wolven as he got to his hind feet. “I can smell her!”

“Saita? Well, that’s good. We can then…”

“Not Saita! Mistress. Mistress is alive again.”

“Hold on. Do you mean the Fell Dragon?”

“I have only ever had one mistress.”

“That can’t be good.” Said Rubar as he joined them.

“What do you mean?” asked Fledge.

“Those crazed Wolven want…what even is her name?” asked Rubar.

“Kay, Mistress Kay.” Said Red-Eye.

“They want her, and for what reason we don’t know. If Red-eye can smell her, then so can they. We need to find them now!”

“I knew this adventure was going to be a disaster.” Muttered Fledge. “Fine, let’s go.”

And now Saita needs to face Dragon Kay. What fun!
