Fledgling: Part 109

Greetings Readers

It has been a while, and I apologise for the little to no update. I messed up the story rather badly. I concentrated on Kay's story and when I got to the end of it, I realised that the next step would be to finish the story. However, that left several key storylines unexplored.

Annoyed with myself, I had to go back and reread everything, including my notes. I'm still not done, but I do have a small update for all of you. Hopefully, the frequency will be better.

Saita had spent some time watching Kay settle into a world and life she hadn’t wanted. The old queen had watched from the time corridors as Kay struggled with feelings and memories she had long buried. She knew that this was all an attempt to stall what she needed to do.

While she stalked Kay and Silens, she thought long and hard about what she needed to do. She knew that she had to get the twins to where they were needed. Then there was bringing Brucel back to her timeline. However, that would be putting her in close proximity to the waking Fell Dragon. Something she couldn’t risk.

However, it became very clear to her that she wasn’t the only one stalking the time corridors. She knew that there would be others. She had seen it when Matta took her to meet Fledge for the first time. That said, this person was trying to stay a few steps ahead of her; no matter how hard she tried to, she couldn’t catch up to them. They were purposefully trying to avoid her.

“Why are you avoiding me, Shareik?” she muttered.

This was turning out to be more of a distraction than she was willing to spend time on. Growling under her breath, she allowed the Heavenly to disappear from her senses. She was sure that this wouldn’t be the last time that she would run into him. And knowing his proclivity for popping up in the wrong order of her time, she was sure she was going to meet him far younger than she should have been.

“Okay, okay. Concentrate. Like she showed you.” She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. At least for this mission, she knew the energy of those she was looking for.

“First, the twins. Then, Brucel.” She whispered under her breath. “From there, her.”

Her. It was the final request of her husband to be with the woman who had allowed him to fall in love with her. It was a painful request for Saita, but she knew that the pain and shame it took for Bolx to ask it of her.

“I’ve got this. I have to do this.” She whispered as she sought through the various universes and timelines. Her future self had taught her about hooks and how to manifest them to allow her to find the times she needed. The known energy would be a great help.

There!

Her eyes snapped open, and she extended her hand to the shimmering wall before her. This part would hurt, she had been warned. This was an innate skill that Wolven had been designed for. She didn’t have this skill and would have to perfect it as she travelled.

As she touched the shimmering wall before her, it felt like bolts of electricity were shoved under her nails, and she grit her teeth.

“It will improve with time. With me giving you the extra knowledge and training, it’ll hurt you a lot less than what I went through.” Echoed the words in her head.

Fingers dug into the wall, then started to slowly part it, as if it were a heavy tapestry. It took a lot of concentration and energy, but Saita had enough to spare. The less excess energy she had, the better it would be for her not to be caught.

Hopefully, we can continue the story. Especially with Kay's past.
