Why I Avoid Companies that have political statements
"Black Lives Matter", "I stand with Israel", "I stand with Ukraine"
I see these political messaging on websites and it makes me want to vomit. 🤮🤮🤮🤮
I may have some sympathy for one, two or all of these causes, but I don't want to distract from the main issue. For more than two decades employees working in the 5-eyes countries have been disallowed from saying "Merry Christmas" and instead having to say "Happy Holidays." As those are the rules, which perhaps makes as much sense as banning the phrase "Happy Hanakah" in Israel. And as long as these kinds of measures are in place, I am not tolerant of corporate websites getting on their soapbox about X,Y and Z except for those that do say "Merry Christmas" and "Free Assange." A phrase like "Black Lives Matter" is rather abhorrent after a year and half of being told we are all "non-essential" (i.e. we don't matter), and then to say just this one ethnic group's lives matter, and by "we" I am talking about those who are not government employees.
Of course this "we" includes blacks, Russians, Ukrainians, and Palestinians. It also includes Israelis who were the first forced guinea pigs for the new kind of vaccine. Now when it comes to blacks, we should hold no ill for the phrase "Black Lives Matter" because it doesn't even come from them. Really George Floyd isn't someone who should be defined as a "black man" but instead a counterfeiter. That was what made him different. That is what got him arrested. It isn't cool that he died in the incident but the phrase should have been "Counterfeiter's Lives Matter."
