Interestingly enough, almost anywhere else in the world colour red is associated with left-wing and colour blue with right-wing. Some claims that US media, which was pro-Democrat in 2000, used Cold War images and tradition of making opponents on military maps red for subliminal messages.
That's wild how the color associations are flipped outside the US. Never thought about the Cold War imagery angle—definitely makes you wonder if there was some subliminal intent behind it.
