On my side, I will say what you did is nice, at least you gave him what you had, instead of offering him nothing. There is this saying that "half bread is better than non". Why I said you did well by giving him the amount you had is because, if you had turned him down, that would have been the worst part, because he will say when he needed cash and he came to you, but you offered him nothing. I feel better he said you offered him a little. So even if he meets you tomorrow and says when he needed help you only rendered a little assistance. Then you will be bold to say you gave him what you had at that particular point in time.

It's just funny how some people make you feel after you've tried your best for them. I know it is better that I gave him all I have. It is just painful that this is coming from a family member.
