What I Wish I Knew When I First Joined Hive.

When I first joined Hive, I honestly didn’t know what I was doing. I just saw people posting and earning and I thought it was going to be that easy. But with time, I came to understand that Hive is more than just writing and earning. It is a real community where your voice matters, and where growth comes with learning and patience.

I decided to write this post not just to share my experience, but to help someone new who may feel confused like I was. Hive is a very big space with many communities, and one of the best ways to grow is to find where you belong. For me, India United has been a warm and friendly place that helps connect people from India and outside with good values, culture, and simple honesty.

Here are a few things I’ve learnt that I wish I knew earlier

*1. Hive is not social media.
Many of us are used to social media like Facebook or Instagram where you just post pictures and get likes. But Hive is not like that. You have to give value. That means sharing something meaningful, whether it’s your thoughts, skills, personal stories, or lessons. People here love honesty and creativity.

  1. Don’t rush for upvotes.
When I started, I was very focused on putting myself out there, making sure everything i wrote mattered. I would post every day putting adequate effort, and I got frustrated when the upvotes didn’t come. But then I took a step back and started reading other people’s posts. I learnt how they wrote, what kind of topics got attention, and how they used images and formatting. That’s when things started changing for me.

  2. Join the right community.
Hive has many communities for different interests: photography, finance, art, food, daily life, and many more. IndiaUnited is perfect for sharing cultural stories, thoughts, travel experiences, daily reflections, and lifestyle posts. When you post in the right community, the people who are interested in your topic can find you faster.

  3. Engagement is everything.
It’s not just about posting your content and logging out. Try reading other people’s posts, leaving comments, and following people whose work you like. It makes a big difference. You get to learn from others, and they also come to your page and support you.

  4. Be consistent but don’t stress.
You don’t have to post every single day. It’s okay to take time to write something you care about. Just keep showing up. Even twice or thrice a week is fine, as long as you’re consistent. Hive rewards real effort and real stories, but the truth is i post almost everyday, but i didn't make that happen overnight, take your time.*

For the newbies reading this, here is my little advice

*Don’t be scared. Everyone starts small here. You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to be you. Write like you are talking to a friend. You don’t have to impress anyone. Just share what you know, what you see, and what you feel. Even simple things like how your day went, what you cooked, or something interesting you saw can be a great post.

*Don’t copy others, and don’t post what you don’t understand. Be proud of your own journey and share it the best way you can

Also, make use of the tags well. Tags help your post to reach the right audience. For example, if you're writing in India United, use the #indiaunited tag first.

I’m still learning myself, but Hive has taught me to be more patient, more expressive, and more real. If you’re just starting, don’t give up. Your growth might be slow at first, but it’s coming. Just keep learning and growing.

Thanks for reading. Feel free to share one thing that helped you when you started Hive too.*
