The Inheritance war

This is what I would do if, on my 20th birthday, I found out that my dad is the runaway son of a doting criminal warlord, and my mom is the daughter of an equally doting secret agent. Both family businesses are looking to make me the next heir.

I would sit down quietly for some time to think things through, and then call both families for a meeting. This is what I would say to them, not minding what my choice might cost me:

"I'm sorry, but I won't be a pawn in this legacy war. You may have spent years shaping your empires, but I am not the heir you're looking for. I have dreams of my own. I've spent nights planning and building a vision for my future that has nothing to do with bloodlines, power struggles, or the burdens of inheritance.

I wasn't born to continue your unfinished stories. I was born to write my own. So if you're looking for someone to carry the weight of your legacy, look elsewhere. My path is already lit by purpose, by conviction, and by a calling that doesn't answer to warlords or agents. I know who I am and who I intend to become. That truth will not be rewritten by family but by destiny. And that is certain.

I understand that my decision may come as a disappointment to all of you, and for that, I am truly sorry. But I earnestly plead that you respect the choice I’ve made. I hope you find peace in letting me walk a path that leads me to purpose, even if it leads me away from your empires."
