Friendship takes effort

Friendship, to me, is a bond of mutual affection and understanding between people. I take friendships to heart, which is why I’m always careful when it comes to choosing who I call a friend. I believe friendship should be built on genuine love, care, and respect. I like to treat people with kindness, give them my full attention, and treat them the same way I treat myself.

Because I value people deeply, I wouldn’t want to have someone close who doesn’t care or put in any effort. You don’t have to be exactly like me, but I believe we should have things in common that help us connect naturally.

I don’t set specific standards or criteria for choosing friends, because honestly, most of my closest friendships happened unexpectedly. I can’t even remember how some of them began, but somehow, fate brought us together. I believe true friendship grows naturally when hearts connect and like minds attract one another.

People do have issues at times, so I wouldn’t say friendship has to be a bed of roses. Disagreements are bound to happen, but what truly matters is the ability to settle disputes and move forward. The strength of any friendship is tested not when everything is smooth, but when challenges arise and both friends are willing to make things right.

Back in school, I had some friends who found it difficult to reconcile after a simple misunderstanding. Most times, they refused to apologize because they believed I should always be the one to do it. When I didn’t take that step, the friendship would simply fade away, as if it never mattered to them. It became tiring, and I started feeling like I valued the friendship more than they did.

Over time, I learned to distance myself from such people. Friendship should never be one sided. For it to grow and last, both parties must be willing to communicate, forgive, and make compromises when necessary. I believe that when two people genuinely care about each other, they’ll always find a way to fix things.

It doesn't just take efforts but sacrifices, friends like that who needs you to be under them and always doing their bidding is bad to the health and I love how you chooses to distance yourself from those characters, thanks for sharing 👍

I totally agreee with you. 🥰 Before I have lots of friends, as I get older I have few circle of friends that are real. And we genuinely understands and care for each other. Have a good day! And one of my best friend is my daughter. 🥰

Friendship truly requires effort, mutual respect, and understanding from both sides. When one person stops putting effort into a friendship, it can slowly kill it.

I agree with you, friendship should never be onesided, or it might end up draining the person so invested in it. It calls for mutual effort and interests to keep it running, and understanding and patience to walk through the rocky episodes.

Thank you for sharing❤️
