Why My Friends Leave Hive

If you have a lot of money, joining Hive can be a good idea. But for someone with low income, it's much harder. Personally, my first goal is to earn a living, and only then think about investing. The reality is, we spend time writing, but often receive little to no rewards. This is the main reason why many of my friends gave up on Hive blogging. A few years ago, I used to earn almost $200 per month from Hive, but now I earn less than $100. It’s not easy, but I keep going and still hope to get upvotes, even if I feel like my content isn’t great.

Sometimes I wonder if the reward system is fair. I see people earning a lot with content that doesn’t seem very special, while others write from the heart but barely get noticed. It’s frustrating, and it makes me think a lot. Hive is decentralized, and that’s a good thing in theory, but it also means success depends heavily on who knows you, your network, and sometimes luck. Meanwhile, people who need quick returns find it difficult to stay motivated. That’s why my friends have moved on.

Now many of them are on TikTok. Yes, it’s centralized, but they say it gives them more opportunity. Even if they don’t earn much, at least they have fun making short videos and feel seen. As for me, I still hope I can earn money from Hive like I did in the past. I haven’t given up yet.
