Walid Bidaah And Reality

The movie Bidaah created a powerful impact with Walid, a strong negative character portrayed as a sect leader in Islam. His controversial role and actions shook the Muslim community, sparking intense debate, reflection, and criticism over religious leadership and misguided beliefs.

The movie Bidaah delivers a deadly punch to the Islamic community by exposing hidden practices among certain corrupt spiritual leaders. It mirrors the shocking reality of sexual abuse in Indonesia committed by a few rogue ulema, sparking public outrage. The film’s disturbing scenes are not mere fiction but reflect real, painful truths. Bidaah forces society to confront these dark realities and demand accountability from religious figures.

I will not present proof of sexual abuse by spiritual leaders here—there are already countless reports. Just search “pelecehan seks oleh guru ngaji, pesantren, dan tokoh agama” and you’ll be shocked. This is an autocritique of Islamic society: it is not a wholly pure community. Many illicit acts occur within, and all elements—leaders, followers, and institutions—must introspect and address these painful, hidden truths.

However, some spiritual leaders choose to close their eyes to these harsh truths. They misuse their authority to silence critics, labeling any questioning as sinful or immoral. Such hypocrisy will not be hidden in the hereafter—it will be exposed in hell. Personally, I now value freedom more than before. I no longer rely on spiritual leaders to guide my life, as they lack transparency and resist criticism. As a Muslim, I choose rationality and facts over blind faith and doctrine like Walid’s.
