My Daughter Helped Me Review My Students' Tests

I went to my hometown for three days. While I was there, I received a call from the school where I teach. I had forgotten to review my students' tests. I told them I would get the tests and review them on Thursday.

In the morning, I went to school and picked up the tests. I brought them home and asked my daughter to help me. I had the answer key, and she checked the students' answer sheets.

Her help really lifted a burden off my shoulders, especially since I also had to deal with getting our water pump repaired this morning. I reinstalled the pump several times, but it didn’t work. I felt very stressed.

Fortunately, after 3 p.m., the pump finally worked and the water sprayed strongly. I felt so relieved.

Today was a hard day, but my daughter was truly the best person—she understood what I was going through and helped me willingly.

I share a strong bond with my second daughter. We both love reading, art, and literature. She eagerly helps me correct my students’ tests, not out of duty, but because she genuinely enjoys reading their answers. Our shared passions bring us closer, making even simple tasks moments of connection, learning, and quiet joy together.

At times, she enjoys cooking with me in the kitchen. She often asks about public figures, writers, and philosophers. Once, she showed interest in Tan Malaka, and I told her who he was. She listened attentively, curious and engaged, always eager to learn more.
