Helping My Neighbour Who Had A Wedding Party Of His Son

On Saturday, July 12, my neighbour held a wedding party for his son. He invited more than 1,000 people because he has a big family and many co-workers. Because of that, he needed a team to help serve the guests. At night, we prepared everything. I was assigned to stay in the parking area, and my friends were in the kitchen and the dining area.

All team members were dressed in batik shirts. We were ready by 9 a.m. The day was hot, but it was a great day because there was no rain. The women on the team worked in the kitchen, and they were also dressed in batik.

My neighbour spent a lot of money on the party — it could have been around 50 million IDR or more (approximately $3,000 USD).
The food was prepared to serve the guests, and there was a stage set up for a music performance. The music was dangdut, which is commonly played at wedding parties.

Most guests arrived at 12 noon. I was busy in the parking area, redirecting hundreds of motorcycles. Everyone was busy in the dining area and kitchen. I didn't forget to have a cup of coffee to relax. The party continued until the evening. Everyone was happy, singing and dancing.

A wedding party can cost a lot of money for the rich, but for the poor, it can be a small event. It depends on how many people are invited. A boss or a government official will usually spend more money because they will invite co-workers and clients.

The party was not complicated because everyone had been assigned their tasks. At 1 p.m., I had lunch with the team. The team members were not paid; it was an act of solidarity for my neighbour. We all helped willingly to support him on this special day, showing care, unity, and a strong sense of community.

Such a heartwarming act of community and support. It’s great to see everyone coming together to help without expecting anything in return.
