Valentine's Heart Shape Pearly Donut Handmade Clay Keychain

$1

Hello, how are you? Happy Valentine's Day! Are you like me, single since forever? You're not alone! LOL, I know everyone is asking me why I am still single. I wonder why? hahaha. One thing to answer is that "I AM NOT READY YET." And I am busy sculpting clay, hahaha.

So yeah, to celebrate Valentine's, I am going to make a heart shaped Donut, which is a rush idea of mine, which I regret a little, but enjoyable at the same time.

Materials I Used:

  • Polymer Clay
  • Weighing Scale
  • Needle Tool
  • Acrylic Stamping Block
  • Toothbrush
  • Tree Brush Tool
  • Thin Sticker Paper
  • Soft Pastel
  • Brush
  • Clear Glue
  • Pallete Knife
  • Dotting Tool
  • X-Acto Knife
  • Gum Container
  • Eyepin
  • Pearl Powder
  • Oven
  • UV Resin
  • Gloves
  • Mask
  • UV Lamp
  • Keychain
  • Pliers

Craft Time!

First, I condition the clay by kneading it until the texture is soft enough to work with. Do not skip this process.

4.JPG

I forgot to document myself weighing the clay, but yeah, I like to weigh mine for future reference.

6.JPG

And then I shape it into a ball, and then to add the heart shape, I use my needle tool to do the job.

7.JPG

8.JPG

At first, it looks weird as I patiently sculpt it. This is what it looks like.

9.JPG

11.JPG

Because I'm making a donut, I am going to add a hole in the middle. I just use the back of the clay tool I have.

13.JPG

14.JPG

To add the texture, I use this needle tool. I really like to add the texture in the middle.

15.JPG

17.JPG

And then I added texture again using the toothbrush and tree brush tool.

18.JPG

19.JPG

I recently watched a clay artist add tape to the side of the clay before adding shade to it, which is a genius idea, so I tried it.

20.JPG

21.JPG

To add the shades, I use soft pastels and a brush. After I added shades, I removed the sticker I added to the sides. Look how realistic it looks now, that's how it happens when you fry a real donut, it leaves a lighter shade at the side.

22.JPG

23.JPG

To add the sweet glazing at the top, I mix clear glue and some red clay and mix it using pallete knife, keep adding clear glue until the desired thickness.

24.JPG

25.JPG

Using the dotting tool, I added the glazing at the top.

26.JPG

27.JPG

This is what it looks like.

28.JPG

31.JPG

And I made a mini topping too.

32.JPG

33.JPG

Let the glazing dry first, and then I added the eyepin.

34.JPG

37.JPG

I remembered I bought a pearl powder last year that I haven't used yet, so I added it to the clay to make it shinier.

37.JPG

38.JPG

And then I bake it, make sure to preheat the oven first, and set the timer and temperature to what the packaging instructions say. Let the clay cool down.

40.JPG

41.JPG

After that, I added UV Resin into the clay and then applied it using this thin brush.

42.JPG

43.JPG

After that, I cure it underthe UV Lamp for about a couple of minutes.

44.JPG

45.JPG

To add the keychain, I first put the jumpring into the eyepin.

47.JPG

48.JPG

And then I lock it using the two pliers I have, and done!

49.JPG

50.JPG

I have a little bit of trouble choosing which photo I am going to upload, LOL.

$1

Looking at it close up, make it cuter! I like it so much.
