I Painted Portrait Using Watercolor Paint, My Advanced Gift for Father's Day

$1

Hello, how are you? I was scrolling through my gallery and saw that I had taken a photo of them a month ago. I decided to paint my dad and my brother's puppy named Thor. This is my second time painting a watercolor portrait using the watercolor I bought a year ago.

Materials I Used:

0.JPG

  • 300 gsm watercolor paper
  • Watercolor paint
  • 2 pallete
  • Watercolor Brush
  • Water Bottle Spray
  • 2 Water Bottle
  • Tape
  • Mechanical Pencil 2b
  • Eraser
  • Tissue Paper

Let's Paint!

To stop paper from moving when I paint, I tape each side of it, but I get lazy, so I just did the top and bottom parts. And one of the reasons why I tape each side, that there is a tendency for the paper to bulge when overused with water.

Using this water spray, I condition the watercolor paint to make painting easier, and the paint is more vibrant.

I premixed some of the colors I needed, like the skin tone.

8.JPG

For the first layer of paint, I usually use an orange-red tone.

10.JPG

Next is I layered it with yellow ochre, and while the skin was still drying, I started to add a layer of watercolor paint on the hair. I use black and blue.

12.JPG

For this part, I layered again the skin with skin tone watercolor I premixed earlier, and I started to add more layers to the other part.

13.JPG

14.JPG

For this part, I started to add darker shadows and layers to the portraits.

15.JPG

16.JPG

Just like I did earlier, if the part is still wet, I will layer the part that is completely dry already, and for the part, I will start to add detail like the hair and fur.

17.JPG

18.JPG

For the final layer, I intensified the part that needed to darken the shadows. And finalize the details too.

After that, I use this white pen to add a highlight to the portrait.

21.JPG

22.JPG

After that, to add more depth to the portrait, I layer the background with blue just to make the portrait doesn't look like flat.

Please take care of your mental health as well.
