I Drew Our New Adopted Puppy, Mochi, Using a Handmade Canvas Panel Gouache.gif

Yesterday, I made a handmade canvas panel using the box from the graphic tablet I bought years ago, so I decided to try to paint on it. So, my mom adopted a puppy two weeks ago, and I am the one who is taking care of her for the moment. and she is a sweet and cute puppy, I love taking photos of her, she is such a model, LOL!

Materials I Used:

  • Gouache
  • Canvas Panel 4x4"
  • Brushes
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Tissue Paper
  • Two Glass Water

Lets Paint!

I sketched the reference with an orange pencil and then layered it with darker line art for the final.

Then, I filled up the whole sketch with yellow paint as the under tone of the canvas, and I painted the line art with darker brown so that I know where to paint later.

I started adding layers of paint. It looked muddy at first, but just trust the process. I also started adding background color to tone up the painting.

I started adding details like fur. Now, it looks more like her. And added more highlights, too.

I keep repeating the process, adding details, filling up, and adding highlights.

When I was satisfied with the painting, I layered the background more, and I decided to add sparkling lights to add more cuteness to it.

Nicely done!

You guys still go back to traditional once in a while huh. Jijisaur is also doing the same thing. Ever since I found out about digital art i never went back to traditional xd. Digital art is so convenient for me lol. Although I do miss the textures traditional ones make sometimes.

It's even more easy for me because I use a tab. You can just change postions easily if it's getting uncomfortable and no need to rely on power so much because the battery can easily last a day and also there is no need to turn it off as well hehe.

Yeah I started with traditional too but I didn't have any options back then . If I had cash I'll probably go the digital way.
