Hello, how are you? Guess what, I think I am going to get sick again… after the New Year comes, we're pretty much sick now, my mom is feeling like she’s getting sick too. What a nightmare, just the first week of the year, everybody is sick. LOL I might consider having anti flu vaccine, it's been years since our last shot.

Before I get sick and be gone again, but I wish not, I pretty much do everything needed to be done so that I don’t have any problem later.

And then I saw someone eating tanghulu (especially the strawberry one) on the internet, and now I am craving it, but it sucks I can’t because sweet trigger sore throat, and to forget that craving, I just made it as a clay keychain.

Yes! New year, new set of food keychains. However, I'm now focusing more on desserts, which is good, but bad for my health if eaten too much.

So yeah, today I am going to show you how I make strawberry tanghulu in clay form.

Materials I Used:

1.JPG

  • Polymer Clay
  • Glass Sheet
  • Portable Weighing Scale
  • Toothpick
  • Dotting Tool
  • Soft Pastels
  • Makeup Brush
  • Eyepin
  • Mask
  • Gum Container
  • Silicone Mat
  • Oven
  • UV Resin
  • UV Lamp
  • Pliers
  • Keychain
  • Disposable Gloves

Craft Time!

For this clay keychain, I am going to use translucent clay. It is important to condition the clay before sculpting, so never skip this step.

3.JPG

4.JPG

I like to weigh the clay I am going to use so that it will come out equally in size and be uniform to look at. You can skip this step if you don’t have a portable weighing scale. After that, I shape each piece of clay I am going to use in the shape of a strawberry.

5.JPG

6.JPG

This is what it looks like. I shape about four of them.

8.JPG

9.JPG

Next, I am going to poke the toothpick into the clay one by one.

12.JPG

13.JPG

I am going to add the texture using the dotting tool. I just imitate the texture of the strawberry.

14.JPG

15.JPG

It is time to add shades to the clay, so I am going to use soft pastel and a makeup brush.

17.JPG

19.JPG

I start with light shades first, and as the process of layering goes by, the darker the shades are. Using soft pastels makes the clay more realistic-looking, so I recommend using them.

20.JPG

24.JPG

Now I am going to add the eyepin, which I usually place at the top part of the clay.

25.JPG

After that, I place the clay on a silicone mat and then preheat the oven at the temperature and time on what the instructions on the packaging of the clay.

27.JPG

29.JPG

Wait for it to cool down first. While the clay is cooling down, I prepare the material for glazing the clay.

30.JPG

31.JPG

I pour UV Resin and then add just a little bit of soft pastel, mixing them just to imitate the sugar that is used for tanghulu.

32.JPG

33.JPG

To add the mixture to the clay, I use a paintbrush and carefully apply it, making sure to wear gloves and a mask when doing this.

34.JPG

36.JPG

After that, cure it under the UV Lamp for about 5 minutes or until the texture of the UV Resin is no longer sticky.

37.JPG

38.JPG

Time to add the keychain, I am going to use two pliers. What I do first is I put the jumpring into the eyepin.

39.JPG

40.JPG

And then using the two pliers, I lock the jumpring.

42.JPG

Now I have strawberry tanghulu! Craving satisfied LOL.

Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
Please take care of your mental health as well.
I hope you are okay today :))
