Handmade Mini Adjustable Easel Using Popsicle Sticks

Copy of Copy of Copy of Your paragraph text (1).gif

Hello, how are you? Last month I was planning a lot of craft DIY I wanted to make, but I caught a fever and colds by just staying at home like why LOL.

One thing I am curious about doing is the mini easel that I am craving to do, but I never have time or energy to do it.

One reason is that I like a specific design or how it works, so it took me a lot of time looking for inspiration online, and then I saw this one that is foldable like the big easel I own, but I wanted to make it a mini version, so yeah, it took me the whole day to perfect it.

I need to find how this and that, and thanks to me, it only took me a short time to figure it out.

Most of the mini easels that are made with popsicles I saw online have the back part that is not foldable, so it is so inconsistent to use it if I don’t want to use it anymore. I'm not just gonna put it away like that, so I wanted the folded version so that I can easily put it away and use it again anytime.

Materials I Used:

  • Popsicles Sticks
  • Glue
  • X acto Knife
  • Cutting Mat
  • Utility Knife
  • Pin
  • Pencil

Craft Time!

I like to do the complicated part first, so I mark the 4cm width of the popsicle stick I want to cut.

And then I cut it using X acto Knife, be careful because I cut my finger doing it LOL. This is what it looks like.

And using the leftover of the first popsicle, I cut about 7 cm wide of the popsicles just like I did in the photo.

And then I grab two popsicle sticks and glue them together, set them aside while drying to use them for later.

To make the adjustable leg, I grab 3 popsicle sticks and a pin, and then I mark the middle where I put a hole in it.

Using the tip of the X-Acto knife, I twisted it carefully until it poked through the other side of the stick, and then I did it to the other two sticks.

I stacked the three together, and then I added glue to the top of the pin just to secure it and put the pin through it.

Then I cut the lower part about half a centimeter.

Time to Assemble:

I grab the first stick I cut earlier and put glue on each side of it.

Then I lay two popsicle sticks, leaving 2 centimeters space between them, and then glue them on the top of the two flat stick which serve as the front legs. Let the glue dry first.

27.JPG

28.JPG

After that, I flipped the sticks back, and then I added glue to each side of the second stick I had cut earlier. I glued it about 4 cm below the upper part that I had glued earlier. Let it dry.

31.JPG

I flip it back and forth, and then I grab one popsicle stick. I put glue on the front legs, 9 cm from the upper part of the stick. It is easier if you have a cutting mat, which serves as my ruler because of its gridlines and measurements.

34.JPG

35.JPG

Then I grab the two popsicles I glued together earlier, and I just glue them below the popsicle I glued earlier.

38.JPG

39.JPG

For the final part, I flipped the sticks back facing, and then I added glue in the middle of the upper stick and the middle stick, and then I grabbed the adjustable sticks I made earlier and glued them carefully, and let them dry completely before using.

42.JPG

Walaaahh! Now I have a mini easel. This is the back and the front.

43.JPG

44.JPG

I did not expect to look this cute.

45.JPG

Now I have an easel for the portrait painting of Mochi, which I painted last year. I made an extra one for the one I sketched earlier for the future painting I am going to paint.

Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
Please take care of your mental health as well.
I hope you are okay today :))

Wow! I love your mini easel DIY. Its so hard to make it foldable and your step-by-step process is really helpful. Hope your finger is okay.
