Handmade Clay Keychain BBQ!!
I was thinking what street food I am going to make next, and I remembered when I was in elementary school, every classroom had its own food tray with different food selections, and one of them was barbecue. And I remembered that BBQ used to be the only food that was always left because of how expensive it is LOL, good old days.
But the reason why I am going to make a BBQ keychain is that Christmas is coming soon, so BBQ is the number one food on the list that is not missing from the table. That's the only thing that excites me, the food LOL.
Materials I Used:
- White Polymer Clay
- Portable Weighing Scale
- Soft Pastels
- X-Acto Knife
- Toothpick
- Alcohol
- Qtip
- Makeup Brush
- Eyepin
- Gum Container
- Oven
- Silicone Mat
- Uv Resin
- Face Shield/Facemask
- Disposable Gloves
- Uv Lamp
- Pliers
- Keychain
Craft Time!
So I am going to start conditioning the polymer clay using my hand, and sometimes I use an acrylic rolling pin. By the way, I use white and translucent clay.
Now they’re all well-conditioned.
After that, I like my clay equal size and weight, so I am going to weigh them.
Then, for the BBQ, I prepare like 4 pieces of BBQ meat. By the way, the use of translucent clay is for the fat part of the BBQ.
Then I shape them like cut meat, for the final meat, I added a translucent part for the fat.
After shaping them, I use this toothpick to put in the clay. What I do is I first poke in the clay with translucent on it and then poke in the other next.
After that, I am going to add the eyepin. I will place it on the right side of the clay, which I think is a good place for it.
To this part of the process, I am going to add shades of color to the clay. What I use is soft pastel and a makeup brush. I use two kinds of brushes: the fluffy and the stiff brush. I start with light shades first.
As the process was going on, I added a layer of darker shades, and to imitate the burn part, I added where I think the burned meat is to make it more realistic.
After that, I am going to place the clay into the silicone mat to bake it.
And then bake it according to the instructions on how to bake the clay, as per the thickness and time as per the packaging of the clay. And then let it bake, the clay turns into a matte texture after baking, and make sure to cool it down before processing to the next step.
For this part, I am going to add the sauce for the BBQ. To do that, I am going to use UV Resin I pour enough resin I am going to for the clay.
Usually, the color of the dipping sauce is light brown, so I added just enough to the resin and mixed it.
If it's still light, add a little more. Balance is the key here.
To make it more realistic, I added chili to the mixture, by the way, it is baked in red clay, and I chopped it into a small size.
Then I carefully add it to the clay.
And then cure under UV Light until the stickiness disappears. I like to cure it under the sun to make sure it is cured enough.
To add the keychain, I am going to need 2 pliers jump ring, and a keychain.
I put the jumpring into the eyepins and then close it using those two pliers.
Make sure that everything is okay and done!
