Ginisang Sitaw and Okra (Sauteed Long String Beans and Okra)
Hello, how are you? The traffic jam here at our place is crazy; it is like stopping you from going out. But what's even crazier is that only one side is always getting those. What I always hear is the angry beeping of a vehicle, which is relatable LOL. I think that the vehicle causing the traffic jam is those big trucks, like when I got home from the grocery, all the vehicles we passed were big. I guess their travel got delayed because of the tropical cyclone we experienced.
By the way, we are going green today. Two of my favorite green veggies are long string beans or "sitaw", which we call in Tagalog, and okra, which I have lately learned is a very healthy veggie, it is high in fiber, which I need. My mom bought a lot, so I am going to add to the food I am going to cook today!
Ingredients and Prepping:
Ingredients and Prepping:
- 2 tbsp. Cooking Oil
- 1/2 cup Meat
- 3 Tomatoes
- 4 Garlic Cloves
- 1 Red Onion
- Small Ginger
- 2 tbsp. Bagoong (Fish Sauce)
- 2 cups water
- 1 Chicken Broth Cube
- 1 Kilo Sitaw (Long String Beans)
- 20 Okra
- 1/2 tsp. All-in-one seasoning
Let's Get Cooking!
In a hot pan, I added 2 tablespoons of cooking oil.
Then I added the chopped meat in. Let it sit for a minute.
When it is browning, start to appear, mix it, and when it is crispy look it is cooked.
Next, I added the aromatics like garlic, red onion, and ginger sautéed them until the aroma came out.
And then I added the tomatoes in.
And then I cook it until the texture of the tomatoes turns mushy.
Then I added about 2 tablespoons of Bagoong (Fish Sauce).
I let the Bagoong (Fish Sauce) seep in for a minute just to remove the fishy smell.
Then I added 2 cups of water.
Mix it until well combined, and then I close the lid and let it boil.
When it started boiling, I added 1 cube of chicken broth.
Then I added the sitaw (long string beans).
Then I added okra.
After that, I added a half teaspoon of all-in-one seasoning.
Then I close the lid again and let it cook for about 10 minutes and mixing it every 5 minutes to cook the veggies evenly, or until the veggies are soft.
Now it cooks nicely and is ready to be plated.
Close-up capture.
Here is a bite for you :D
Happy Eating!
