Crayola Oil Pastel for $5? Unboxing and Trying it

$1

Hello, how are you? This month, I've been playing with oil pastel again, and I decided to watch a lot of artist vlogs using oil pastel, and a lot of artists like using the Crayola oil pastel, like how Crayola has oil pastel, and I was like, I am going to try this no matter what.

I like to start with a budget-friendly brand sometimes, they're not disappointing. However, I have doubts sometimes, so I did my research before committing to it.

Let's Do Unbox!

2.JPG

My order was delivered the day after I ordered it, which is fast, and I guess the seller feels my excitement to try it LOL. It is wrapped with bubble wrap, which is good.

3.JPG

4.JPG

And it is packed with a cardboard for extra protection.

5.JPG

6.JPG

The paper case is safe and undamaged, which is a relief for me, and the oil pastels are all okay, no broken pastels, and it is all 24 pieces, and a little bit of pastel smudges, but it is okay, I can clean it after.

7.JPG

9.JPG

This color made me buy one for myself. The color name is brick red, and I did a palm swatch, which oil pastel artists do, and it is so satisfying.

14.JPG

15.JPG

After that, I do swatches on the paper just to see the actual color of each pastel, and I label it with the name of the color, too. Now I get those artists I watch that reviewed this oil pastel, they're opaque and vibrant too, and easy to blend.

Let's Try The Oil Pastel!

16.JPG

17.JPG

I start with a sketch first, using the gray pastel. I do freestyle with the sketch, just let my hand do the work with the reference LOL.

18.JPG

19.JPG

I first layer it with pink pastel just to try if it works.

21.JPG

22.JPG

After that, I layer the gray sketch with brick red pastel to do the line art. I like to start to render the skin first, so I use a skin color pastel, and then I start adding layers to the eye part too.

23.JPG

24.JPG

Then I render the eyebrows and the eyes too.

25.JPG

26.JPG

I started to layer and render the hair too, which I really like, and I started adding a lighter color to the reference and to tone up the portrait. I added the background color, which makes the portrait look even better.

27.JPG

28.JPG

To finish the portrait, I added a darker color, which is black, to the eyelashes and to the part that needed to be dark. And then I use my clay tool to add texture to the portrait and to add a highlight too.

29.JPG

30.JPG

Done! The oil pastel is easy to work with and very opaque. I just needed to use a lot of force to blend the color right, but for $5, the quality exceeded my expectations! I really like it. This oil pastel is perfect for portraits, in my opinion.

Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
Please take care of your mental health as well.
I hope you are okay today :))
