Hello, how are you? Our internet connection today is so slow, and it's driving me crazy. It was so fast before, but the longer the internet service exists, the slower it gets.

By the way, I decided to complete or buy all the missing colors of acrylic I didn't have, and it was the best decision I ever made. It was on sale, so I went for it.

And I can't stand the smell of the oil paints, so I'll give it a try with acrylic paint again, and I will paint a gift for my brother's dog this coming Wednesday, who will have his first birthday, just like I did with Mochi's birthday present, hehehe.

Unboxing Time:

I was about to unbox this, but the other parcel, which the other shade of acrylic did not deliver at the same to I waited a day to just unbox this and to experience all of it. So I bought this Mont Marte Acrylic Paint, not just because it is on sale, but it has pigment info on it, so it is a yes for me.

The tube paint have seal on it, and the one in a container doesn't have the same color don't have in the tube, so I bought one in a container.

6.JPG

I bought cool and warm tones of the primary colors, and bought the ones that I don't have, so now most of them I own.

I did mistake of peeling the seal before, so I am not making the same mistake again. I poke it with the tools I have. By doing this, I can control the amount of paint I will use, so I will not waste any of it.

I swatch them to see what the pigment looks like, pretty good to me LOL.

Then I swatch all of the paint colors I have.

Materials I Used:

  • Mini Canvas Panel
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Glass Jar w/ Water
  • Pallete
  • Paint Brush
  • Spray Bottle
  • Rug

Let's Try the Paint!

15.JPG

First, I sketched Thor using a pencil. I did my best to fit his long face, but I failed LOL. And then I lay out all the colors I am going to use.

16.JPG

17.JPG

To tone up the canvas, I spray it with water first.

18.JPG

19.JPG

And paint the whole canvas with burnt sienna to tone it up.

20.JPG

21.JPG

Using this rug or any fabric you have, I wipe off all the paint. The purpose of this is to stain the canvas and remove all the whites from it.

22.JPG

23.JPG

Now I am ready to start painting the portrait. First, I outline the darkest part of his face with dark paint.

24.JPG

25.JPG

After that, I added the midtones and the color of the ears and lips.

27.JPG

28.JPG

And then I like to paint the background in the middle of the process, just so I can see the portrait.

29.JPG

30.JPG

And then back to the midtones and darkest to the face just to build up the color, do not layer with thick paint because it is going to be a disaster if you do. Just calmly layer it with thin paint first.

31.JPG

32.JPG

Now, for this part, I am starting to add the highlight, but not to light, I reserve that for the final.

33.JPG

34.JPG

Look how the portrait pops out when the highlight is added.

42.JPG

Then, after that, I pretty much do the previous process back to back, and then I finalize it with a dark green background because my brother's favorite color is green.

44.JPG

Now it is done! Advance happy 1st birthday to Thor :D

Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
Please take care of your mental health as well.
