Banana Cue Handmade Street Food Clay Keychain!

Copy of Your paragraph text (9).gif

Hello, how are you? It is December, and you know what it is!? It’s tiimmeee! Mariah Carey's iconic Christmas song will be blasting around anytime and anywhere, LOL. And it is time to buy a gift for the family, and I started to look online last week, and I have seen a lot of potential gifts, but I can’t choose what to buy, haha.

Last time I’ve been making a lot of keychains, and I don’t know what to do with them, whether I should sell or just give them as a gift for my family.

I am still in my era of street foods, and for today I decided to share with you how I make banana cue, which is so famous sweet street food coated in melted brown sugar, which I love to eat during my student years because it is perfect to eat at recess or after eating lunch. So yeah, keep scrolling for the process, enjoy!

Materials I Used:

1.JPG

  • Glass Sheet
  • Poylmer Clay
  • Portable Weighing Scale
  • Gum Container
  • Toothpick
  • Wire Brush
  • Needle Point
  • Alcohol
  • Qtip
  • Soft Pastels
  • Makeup Brush
  • Eyepin
  • Silicone Mat
  • Oven
  • UV Lamp
  • Disposable Gloves
  • Colored Sand
  • UV Resin
  • Pliers
  • Keychain

Craft Time!

2.JPG

First thing I do is to condition the clay I am using until the texture of the clay is smooth enough to work with.

3.JPG

4.JPG

I like to weigh the clay first before I start shaping and sculpting it, and to make it look uniformly equal too.

5.JPG

6.JPG

I started shaping it into a banana shape. I made two of them.

8.JPG

9.JPG

And then I use a toothpick as a BBQ stick for it, I just poke in the clay carefully and make sure to poke it in the middle so it will not look weird.

10.JPG

11.JPG

After that, I use this needle point to add the texture to the clay, you can use whenever tools you have that are similar to the one I use.

12.JPG

13.JPG

Then I like to add more texture to it, so I used this wire brush on the clay.

14.JPG

15.JPG

I use alcohol and a Q-tip to clean the clay from dust and dirt.

17.JPG

18.JPG

For this part, I am going to add shades of color to the clay to make it more realistic. To do that, I use soft pastel and a makeup brush.

20.JPG

21.JPG

I start with lighter shades to darkest, just keep layering it until it is close enough, just like banana cue.

22.JPG

24.JPG

Time to add the eye pin, what I do is I poke the eye pin into the right side of the clay.

25.JPG

26.JPG

I place the clay into a silicone mat. And then preheat the oven first and bake it at the temperature and time as instructed on the packaging. After baking, let it cool down first.

28.JPG

29.JPG

Now it is time to add glaze to the clay. I use UV Resin for the glaze and soft pastels for the color and colored sand for the sugar texture, and then I use a UV Lamp to cure the UV Resin, and I wear eye protection and disposable gloves.

31.JPG

32.JPG

First, I squeeze out UV Resin, and then I add a soft pastel and mix them until well combined.

33.JPG

34.JPG

And then I added that mixture to the clay.

36.JPG

37.JPG

And then I pour the colored sand on the top of the mixture, and that will seep into that mixture.

41.JPG

40.JPG

And then cure it under a UV Lamp for about 5 minutes or until there is no sticky texture to it.

42.JPG

43.JPG

Now it is time to add the keychain. I am going to use two pliers. To assemble the keychain. What I do is I hoop in the jump ring into the eye pin with the keychain.

45.JPG

46.JPG

And then I lock the jump ring using the two pliers.

47.JPG

48.JPG

Now I have a realistic miniature Banana Cue Clay Keychain.

48.JPG

Did a little photoshoot behind the scenes.

Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
Please take care of your mental health as well.
