Back with Oil Pastel Portrait Again?

$1

Hello! How are you? It has been a while since I posted some of my oil pastel portraits from a few months ago, and she is still waiting for my draft to be edited. I think it's her time to shine. What I love about oil pastel is the texture, so it is always my go-to medium in terms of traditional art, especially when using it with portraits. My favorite weekly still-life account on IG gets a break from posting still-life photos, so I'm in my hiatus era of using oil pastels.

Materials I Used:

  • Oil Pastel
  • Notebook

The Process:

Because this is just a fun and practice oil pastel portrait. I tend to draw it directly using oil pastels without any pencil or eraser, LOL. But it is good enough for later. I use this pink oil pastel to draw the line art.

And then I use this brown oil pastel to layer the line art and make it darker. They say using darker oil pastels first is better.

For this part, I am starting to add skin color using this yellow ochre.

Next, I used this light yellow to layer beside the other color.

Next, I blend the yellow ochre using this light orange.

Then I used this pink oil pastel to draw the blush.

Then, after that, I used light blue to color the eye part.

Then I layer the brown part with darker brown just to make it more the model pop out more.

Next, I am going to draw the lips using this red oil pastel.

Then I use this yellow-orange oil pastel to draw the hair.

Because I am limited in the color of oil pastel, I decided to just use the darkest I can find. I just think it is not dark enough, but it is okay, I guess. LOL.

And for the final layer, I used the black oil pastel to layer the part where more darker part is needed to layer.

To add texture, I used this sculpting tool to scrape where the part that I wanted the texture is.

Here is the final portrait.
