You don't need to read the other books. Its the same character but they are all self contained works with no continuation between them. I was joking to my wife about that. There is no way that a University professor would ever be put into this many of the same crazy situations. Its like, "What the actual fuck, how can this possibly keep happening to me!?!"
I'm not familiar with the Stargate movie or upcoming series. Was the movie good?

Oh, it's an absolute classic. I remember watching it in the theater and it was so amazing. The shows continued the universe really well too.
I'll have to check it out and the new series. I think that the CIA Stargate program is different than the movie - just reading the synopsis. Still sounds good though
Oh, okay, well that is disappointing :) I guess I should have known it wouldn't be quite so sci/fi for a Dan Brown book. I'll do some more research.
Yeah it might not meet expectations if you're thinking its more sci fi with worm holes and that sort of thing.
