New Brew and a Few Fan Favorites

avatar
I haven't been drinking much beer lately. It's been a few weeks since I did a #Beersaturday post. I've just been too busy with my house projects to stop and enjoy cold one. I'm back this week with a few beers to review. One is a new beer to me and the other two are fan favorites. They see how they did starting with the new beer.

Ten Mike Point

Brewery: Manitoulin Brewing Co
Origin: Manitoulin Island ON Canada
Style: Czech inspired Pilsner
Abv: 4.5
IBU: Unknown
SRM: Unknown

Marketing: The can has a great can design and a beautiful color scheme, with pastel yellow, turquoise and red clay among others. The imagery is of a lake scene and sunset with boats on the water and geese flhing in the air. A short blurb on the back describes some tasting notes. This can is bright and colorful and I like it a lot. Great marketing in my opinion.

Color: The beer poured a strong yellow color with a decent amount of head on top that stuck around for quite some time.

Nose: The nose on this beer is malty upfront with notes of grainy cereals and grassy hops in the back ground.

Taste: Mildly sweet in the begining - almost dry, tangy in the middle, and a nice rounding bitterness that was long lasting in the finish. Cereal flavors coming through for me and maybe a hint of lemon. Crisp and fresh tasting also.

Texture: Nice pleasant carbonation and a light bodied mouthfeel. Pretty standard.

Impression: Overall this was a very good beer for me. It was very fresh, very crisp, and had a great flavor. I could drink several of these in one sitting and would definitely buy it again. It was a good Beer to sit outside with or while BBQing, which is how I drank it. That night I made some chicken and potatoes, which went well with the beer.

Black Coal Stout

Brewery: Railway City Brewing Co
Origin: St Thomas ON Canada
Style: American stout
Abv: 6.0%
IBU: Unknown
SRM: Unknown

My first fan fvorite is Railway City's Black Coal Stout. This one is always on my short list of good beers. If there is nothing new to try at the store and this one is around then I'll always snatch it up. It passes the test for me.

This beer is as bold as it looks. It pours black as ink and has a ton beer of strong flavor. Roasted notes of coffee and chocolate in both the nose and on the tongue.

This one is perfection is you're looking for a strong American Stout. Strong in both taste and ABV (6.0% is nothing to sneeze at for a north American beer).

Helles Lager

20250825_160400~2.jpg

Brewery: Wellington Brewer
Origin: Guelph ON Canada
Style: Helles Lager
Abv: 4.5
IBU: 20
SRM: 2
OG: 10.5 - FG: 2.0

20250825_160259~2.jpg

This is another fan favorite of mine. Really, anything by Wellington brewery tends to be really good. Their beers are always fresh and flavorful.

20250825_160338~2.jpg

This one has notes of cereals, grass and pear. A little sweet and tangy with just a hint of bitterness to counter it. It's crisp. It's refreshing. It has great flavor. Not a lot of foam in the pouring but I'll let that go. This is a great summer beer that I will continue to revisit every now and again.

Well thats it for now. Thanks for reading. Cheers everyone!

Helles Lager and Ten Mike Point are two beers that I was inspired by because of their deep yellow color. Ten Mike Point has a very good presentation and a good marketing strategy to attract customers. The crisp and fresh taste always adds a special feeling.

I've just been too busy with my house projects to stop and enjoy cold one.

When I have some work in the house, which is more extensive, when I build something, partition, change parquet, tiles in the bathroom or paint the whole apartment, beer is an indispensable drink for refreshment.
True, there is no time to write then 🙂

I hope your project is progressing successfully.
Cheers!

Yeah normally I would reward myself with a beer as well but I couldn't drink while I was working because I was wearing a respirator because of all the dust and then I finished too late to sit down and enjoy it. At that point it was just me shoveling food into my face because I was so hungry 😅😋

Along with that food, I would also push through some cold beer 😀 Because nothing washes away the dust that entered the throat through the mask like a little cold beer.

Those look pretty tasty! I just picked up a nice Oktoberfest Fiest Beer from Trader Joe's. This is my favorite time of year for beer.

(Edited)

Late summer-Fall is a good time of year for new beers coming out. I just drank the last beer in my fridge yesterday so I need to go check out what's new and pick up some more.

I'll look out for an Oktoberfest beer for myself as well!

I've still got a 12 pack of Spotted Cow from New Glarus brewery in Wisconsin. If you ever get a chance to try that, I highly recommend it!

Awesome lineup! You gave each beer its own spotlight, especially with the detailed tasting notes. Enjoy! Cheers 🍺

Yeah, I try and give each beer their own review. The ones that I've reviewed in the past get a shorter blurb.

That’s a great approach! Giving each beer its own review really shows off what makes them special.
