Hike in the Woods
For this #wednesdaywalk let me show you a hike that we went on recently. It was nowhere near as exciting as some of the hikes we did in Europe but you have to work with what you have and make the most of it.
We took the dog to a woodsy forested area just outside of town and walked along the trail for about an hours or so.
The trail followed a stream which eventually brought us to a dam with a small lake on the other side.
I don't know much about the lake, if it's man made or if there are any fish in it, but nonetheless, there it is.
The path followed the lake for a little while and then headed back into the woods. We saw the lake again near the end of the trail as well.
For the most part the trail was pretty easy to navigate but on the back half it got a little confusing. There was one spot that opened up into a small clearing with a 6 or 7 point crossroads made up of large heavily trafficed trails and other small barely noticeable ones.
There was a sign there that had a rudimentary map on it marking the trails but there were so many of them compact into such a small space that we couldn't really tell where each began.
It didn't really matter because there was no way of getting lost in there but some of the trails were meant for biking and we didn't want to take one of them with our dog on his leash and have to deal with cyclists barreling down the trail, flying around corners and coming out of nowhere with little warning.
We just picked a trail and headed out not really knowing much about it. We did see some bikers along the way but it wasn't an issue in the end, we just stepped off for a moment and let them pass. All that build up of storytelling for nothing.
The trail passed through a few different areas along the way, including some tall grassy areas followed by some pine forests. Pine forest makes for some interesting photos because they have really good visibility and all of the needles on the ground create an orange looking forest carpet.
Eventually we came to the end of the trail which opened back up to an area overlooking the lake. Its not the most picturesque lake that I've seen by any stretch of the imagination, so we didn't stay long there before picking another path and heading back.
The forest was a mix of evergreen trees and deciduous. Most of the leaves had fallen from the branches by that point in time but there were a few spots where they remained. The fall is a really nice time to hike if you can catch the changing colors. But everyone knows that.
And with that we called it a day and headed back down the path to our car to take us back home. That was enough walking for us for one day. Okay this turned out to be just another shitpost. I hate it when that happens.
Are there animals in this place?
There are squirrels and rabbits, maybe fox, coyote and deer as well but they wouldn't come out during the day with all of the people around.
Wow it would be nice to see them🥰

I'm not surprised you walked for more than an hour dear friend @leaky20 this place is really very beautiful
I love trails full of nature.
What beautiful shots, you have taken really beautiful photographs, thank you very much for sharing this Wednesday walking experience
have a great day
It was a decent spot. Not the most scenic we have been to but it's always nice to get out into nature.
Wow all that open sky and the colourful trees sure made for a great weds walk. Good company too!
It is a little grey around these parts but at least not rainy so I will try and get out and coax some colour out of the town.
Yeah this walk was a little while ago. Today is grey and damp actually. Most of the leaves have fallen so the color is dwindling here too.
Still worked! I just got back from my walk and will hopefully not get too distracted to post later on.
Nice. I'm often too distracted 😆
Looks much nicer than the title eluded to. I was half anticipating a crazy hillbilly jumping out from the trees with a chainsaw! Maybe I just watch too many movies!
Haha that's really funny. No crazies this day, luckily. 😆
hahahaha! Thankfully! Just crazy awesome views! You giving me itchy feet! Need to visit my mountains soon!
That's a good idea. I could use a visit to the mountains myself. It's been a while now.
The lake seems not man made but I read somewhere if you are lost in the forest just follow the stream and eventually will lead you to the right path.
The fall photos of was indeed beautiful, how I wish we have that season here.
I've never heard that about following a stream but it sounds like it could be right. Trails often do follow pretty close to the water.

That would be an interesting job I bet. I would love to see one of those massive hydro electric dams. That would be cool
He gave me a tour of one of the three he worked on, it was impressive to see for sure
That's awesome 👍
I’m sure you enjoyed the walk because if you don’t do so, you won’t walk for over an hour
The pictures could also tell that you enjoyed the walk
Nice pictures!

You're being way too harsh on yourself. You an't see no shit post before!!
I can imagine this being a lovely walk all year round with different views throughtout the seasons
Thanks. I appreciate that 😁
I suppose not every post can be about an exciting adventure.
Oh, Wow! I enjoyed seeing these photos Leaky... So different from the woods in my area. I love the trees but I won't make any guesses as to what some of them are.
That's the best way most times.
Awesome:)))
Yeah there were a lot of different types of trees in the forest. I know some tree types, but not all. There's too many to know all of them.
What a pleasant, peaceful and magical forest hike, my friend! Really magnificent pics! My best regards for you!!!
It was a nice day to be in the woods. Thanks for checking out my blog 😀
