Garden Update
Summer is ending and we are moving towards fall. Its not over yet but the weather is already changing here and I can feel it. We still get a lot of sun but the days are getting shorter and its definitely been a little cooler lately. I don't mind it though because there has also been a little less humidity. Today as I sit and drink my morning coffee I figure I'll talk about gardens, likely for the last time this year. So here we go.
Dads Garden
I'm actually going to start with my dad's garden. Him and his spouse work on it ever year and change it around a little each season.
Over time it has become something completely different than when they first started.
This was the first time that I have seen it in about four years now.
The last time I saw it was before moving to France.
I have been to their home many times since returning but that was always in the fall, winter and spring, so not everything in the garden was fully in order or in bloom.
It looks really nice this year in my opinion and I was quite impressed when I saw it. Especially knowing how difficult it can be to design and maintain a nice garden. Retirees have the time needed to spend in their yard though I suppose.
Film Crew
This next part isn't entirely garden related but somewhat fits in with the summer and garden theme, I think.
Several months back, when summer was just begining, our street got a notice in the mail requesting permission to film on our street.
I don't know if it was for a movie or a TV show or what, but it said that it would be taking place at a house one street over. I thought it might be some HGTV renovation show or something. I actually never found out what it was all about.
Anyway, I came home one day to find the film crew shooting some sort of car scene up and down our street as well as the next street over.
I watched from the balcony for a bit as they went back and forth a dozen times or so before moving on. The dog seemed pretty interested as well.
He watched from our overhead perch for quite some time.
The cat didn't seem all that happy about it all.
That is definitely the face of someone who is not impressed.
Home Garden
Our home garden has only changed a little since I last posted about it.
We didn't do a whole lot with it this year, just mainly waited to see what it would look like on its own.
Since the last time though the flowers bordering the our vine tree had started to bloom.
They are Black Eyed Susan's as we expected.
There are a lot of them as you can see.
It turns out that the "vine tree" is actually a type of hydrangeas. I didn't know that hydrangeas could grow like that.
The geraniums on our balcony are still going strong too.
They have been continuously producing flowers all summer.
Anyway, that is all I have to say about gardens and summer, so that will conclude this garden update.

I believe that the technical term for it is "splooting." He loves to sploot
Wow so amazing place, redish flowers looks so attractive, lovely beauty of nature like heavon on earth😍😍
Thanks. Yeah the geraniums are quite nice and have lasted a long time

Hi @leaky20 , unlike the cat, I am impressed
Doing all that garden stuff isn't cheap neither. AND, it helps a LOT if you have a partner or roommate.
I simply can't lift and pull on stuff the way I once did. 🥲
Curious about the car scene as well. Wonder what movie? Also, where do you live? This scenery looks as if it could be from North Georgia USA.

Yeah gardening is a lot of money and work. You really have to enjoy it to make it worth while. It helps when you have a lot of self propagating plants like hostas and ferns and such. You can split them each year and plant the extras elsewhere.
Yeah I'm not sure I'll ever find out what movie or show it is 🤷♂️
So where do you live? I ask because lots of the plants and landscaping looked very much like what many folk around here have as well
These are from my niece's house
Yeah those are similar. I live in Canada
I was about to say that it should be a lot cooler up there now, but I see from the weather reports that everything seems upside down, temp and rainfall.
Good Luck
Your father's garden looks beautiful and surely deserves an impressed face. Not like your cat friend as you watched the filming in front of your street, haha. I love it, that's one of the reasons I like them so much, they are so themselves, lol 😻
Yeah cats have great quirks about them. So sassy and unimpressed 😂
I'm just seeing this because we finally got summer here, and I've been gone all day.
I got so excited when I saw the little red car, then I realised it was a film crew.
Dogs vs. cats heh? Look at the contrast.
My my! Little doggy was so impressed and look at the cat 😆... so typical, heh 😂 and she's not hiding it.
Both gardens are lovely... Like father like son, I guess.
Yes, last week I thought that summer was cancelled, and yesterday and today have been a beautiful surprise. I'm hoping it stays like this all month.
Lovely gardens and a fun update 🙌
Sounds like you finally got some good weather. That's great! Better take advantage and enjoy it. Get some sunshine.
Yes the dog and cat are very different in their personalities and interests 😂
Hi @leaky20 what a fun update on your garden, pets and film crew. I really enjoyed your dad's garden, wow. It has really evolved into such a wonderful space.
Yeah I was quite impressed by his garden this year. There have been years in the past where it was a bit too eclectic for my taste but now I think they really landed on a good iteration.
Your dad must work hard to maintain such a pristine garden! It is immaculate. Wow
Yeah my dad and his spouse work hard at it and have a good vision for it.
