First Coffee at Home

We moved back into our house recently. It was last Monday actually. The renovation still isn't completely finished but what's left is more of an inconvenience than a barrier to moving back in. We are slowly setting up the kitchen and putting away our belongings, and today I finally decided to set up our espresso machine.

Last weekend we were drinking Starbucks coffee and all this week I have been buying coffee at work in the hospital cafeteria. It has been fine of course, but it's a much different type of coffee than what I make at home - a little less rich and a little more watered down. I'm happy to have my home set up "up and running again."

1000004202.jpg

To be honest I couldn't remember all of the settings on our machine or the grinder, so this cup was a bit of an experiment. It turned out pretty good in the end.

We basically have no where to sit comfortably on our main floor at the moment. Our living room is still full of the cabinetry for our pantry - the part of the project waiting for completion. We aren't able to set up our living room, couch or chairs, so I opted to enjoy my coffee outside on our balcony. It's better than sitting at the dining room table or going down to couch in our rec room in the basement. The balcony is a comfortable spot actually.

We brought out our geraniums as you can see. A few died over the winter this year but several remained strong and we bought extras to replace the dead ones. I got rid of the large planter boxes that they typically sit in. I tossed them into the construction bin that was here for the project.

1000004214.jpg

They were old and rotting out at the sides and bottom. I'll have to build new ones at some point when I have the time.

1000004215.jpg

The air outside is damp with a slight chill this morning. My coffee is getting a bit cold now as I sip away at it. The weather here has been atrociously hot as of late, and very muggy with humidity. We have been getting a lot of rain as well. Today the skies look blue though, so maybe we'll have a nice Saturday afterall?

1000004216.jpg

I've been reunited with my cat finally. She took a few days to warm up to me again. No doubt she was a little pissed off for me "abandoning" her at my mom's. She has gotten over it now and has claimed her comfortable spot on my lap again. The dog is currently whining to go back inside the house but I don't want to disturb her. This is what it's like having a cat, you often get stuck in place for long periods of time in order to please them. It's like, you may really have to pee but you will hold it for 20 minutes to not disturb them. If you're a cat owner you probably know what I mean.

1000004218.jpg

This post was a bit rambling, a bit of a stream of consciousness sort of thing while I continue to sip my coffee. Apologies if it was boring. That is all I have to say so I'll end it here. Have a good day everyone. Enjoy your coffee's. Cheers!

That espresso machine looks like you could run a coffee outlet from home. Maybe you could give up your day job and spend time with your cat and dog while running a home coffee business.

The coffee looks rich and strong, and I do miss having an espresso machine.

It's great that you're back home and it was a wise decision to move back in and slowly reacquaint with your possessions.
I bet the cat and dog are happy to be back and probably think that the renovation was done specially for their increased comfort.
Happy Weekend and thanks for stopping by:)))

That would be a fun gig to start a coffee shop from home. I wish I could work from home a couple days a week.

Yeah it's nice to be back home now with all of us together again.

Is this espresso? Not really a guru with coffees 😅

It's basically an Americano, espresso with additional water added after. It makes it very similar to drip or filtered coffee

Enjoying a coffee at home is one of the best sensations, and it is also ideal to put things and ideas in order. May you continue to enjoy your home @leaky20

Not bad coffee. I tried to imitate the Cappuccino de Maquina, with a sachet, but it didn't turn out the same.
What a great way to enjoy a coffee, outdoors, with your pets and beautiful plants in sight.

Ya, sachet coffee often is a little different. It never turns out quite the same

A new beginning, moving is not easy, but it allows you to organize your ideas in the middle of the case and there is nothing like being able to enjoy a delicious coffee in the process. It's good that you have a machine in your home, it's a great option for coffee lovers.
Nothing like a coffee made in the warmth of your home.

Yes that's true. I do really enjoy drinking coffee at home. I think I prefer it at home than at a cafe, even if I can't make it as good.

Recently meyde, I know what you are going through, and that coffee pot looks great it wasn't boring your post but I imagine there isn't the order necessary for life but give yourself some time and you'll see the change.

That's true. Moves are challenging and take time to adjust.

A beautiful espresso machine, many delicious coffees will come out of it for a long time. You have beautiful plants, I really like that intense red. Some pretty pets keep you company at home.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.☕

Excellent day.

Some of the plants are very old. The previous owner of the house brought them into the garage each winter and back outside in the spring and kept them alive that way for about 12 years. We have been trying to do the same but we aren't as good at it so a few died this year unfortunately.

A peaceful morning I would say. Coffee on the balcony with your pets must have felt like a tiny vacation amidst the chaos🤔💯🥰
