Coffee and Breakfast

(Edited)

Coffee and breakfast go together like... well, coffee and breakfast. It could perhaps be one of the best combinations ever invented. That being said, here are a few coffee and breakfasts that I've had over the past few weekends.

By the way, does that coffee not look amazing? It looks so creamy and delicious. Our kitchen table makes for a great backdrop for food and drink photos, if I do so so myself.

This roast is called Pacific Pipeline by the Kicking Horse Brand that I've purchased a few times in the past. The bag says that it's tropical and exotic but it just tasted like coffee to me.

Here's a close up of the beans... you can see that it's a mix of dark and medium roasts together.

This day I made my wife a cheese omelet with tomato and yellow peppers and a balsamic glaze garnish. Looks nice, right?

That day I had egg, cheese and tomato on a toasted everything bagle. It was quite good as well. Below is another angle to enjoy.

Another day, another delectable looking coffee. I made a cappuccino on this occasion and my wife made breakfast. I can never create coffee art, anytime that I try. I just can't figure it out it seems. Maybe I'm using the wrong type of cup?

I gave up on trying this day and just spooned the foam on top. The coffee tasted great, which was the most important thing, but it still looked pretty fancy as well, in its own way.

My wife made a delicious breakfast that day, a real Canadian classic of eggs, bacon and pancakes. We don't have big breakfasts like that often, so its almost like a treat for special occasions.

20230806_103745~2.jpg

We rarely buy bacon anymore either. It tastes delicious but its often ridiculously expensive and half the time its just all fat or tastes like chemicals. The bacon was on sale at the grocery store $12 from $20 so we bought some for the first time in a long time. It ended up being about 80-90% pure fat but evidently fried fat tastes incredible, soooo...worth it? I thought so that day as a treat, but only because of the sale price. $20 for sliced fat is absurd in my opinion.

My wife also made blueberry pancakes that day. They were also delicious so the breakfast was pretty amazing in the end.

20230805_100014~2.jpg

"Hey, where'd that blueberry come from?"

Oh yes, yes, that's right. I dropped a bag of frozen blueberries when putting them back in the freezer. They went everywhere as you can see and made a huge mess as they melted all over the floor.

I took a photo for Hive (as one does) before getting on my hands and knees to pick them up. There is no point in crying over spilled blueberries....

That about does it for this round of coffee and breakfasts.

Until next time, thanks for stopping by.

WoW! All the coffee here look amazing, but that first cup looks divine!😋

That's my idea of what a Bagel sandwich should look like. I find Bagels and cream boring! I particularly like the sesame seeds too.
The cheese omelette is a nice idea that I'll try. I wouldn't have thought of that garnish, but balsamic vinegar works with everything for me.

So, that's what a typical Canadian breakfast looks like? Eggs, bacon, and pancakes... with some Maple Syrup?

I agree about the bacon, and that's one thing I take advantage of here in the UK. Bacon quality is good, quantity is plenty, and the price is cheap, so I can get a pack of quality bacon with 6-8 thick slices for less than £2.00. It's different because of US and N. American bacon might be from the pork belly which is fattier (but tasty), whereas here in the UK the Bacon Back is usually from the loin area where the meat is leaner (still very tasty). Living in places like Jamaica or the Philippines bacon is very expensive and mainly fat, indeed.

$20 for sliced fat is absurd in my opinion.

The bag says that it's tropical and exotic but it just tasted like coffee to me.

Haha, that sounds like how I'd review an exotic coffee taste for my husband.
Husband: "What does it take like, ecstatically?"
Me: Coffee!
Husband: C'mon it says tropical and exotic.
Me: Coffee!

The blue berries spoke to you and you listened.
"Take my photo", said the blueberries
"Snap, snap," did the photographer.

Look how nicely that came out.

... that's my view too, not worth crying over anything spilt thing.

You're very welcome. Have a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Day!-8.jpg

Probably not the pancakes actually. Those would normally be hash browns and toast if its a standard classic breakfast. But if there were pancakes then there would definitely be maple syrup.

Bacon here is from pork belly. It's possible to get back bacon as well and peameal bacon (thick cut back bacon coated in corn meal). Peameal bacon is very Canadian but you also almost never see people eating it lol.

Peameal

😆 Culture is a hell of a thing. I learn something new every day and I realise just how little I know about Canadian culture 😂

coated in cornmeal

🤣 I love cornmeal, even though it was my tease name at primary school🙄

PS. My apology for the mini blog on your post.
I just looked back at it and thought the message was sent twice 🙃😉

I don't think I'd ever read a post so quickly in my life. The first cup looks absolutely delightful and I'm often in awe of those that make excellent coffee art in their cups. I do try but not as good as I'd like.

And might I just add that everything here looks absolutely scrumptious. Love the Canadian breakfast too. And your ending is just stellar.

Can't cry over spilled blueberries indeed. Lol💜😆

Yeah I have never been able to make good latte art and I have tried over and over again. I'm not sure why it isn't working for me. It looks so easy when you watch videos of it.

Glad you liked the post

Yeah bagles are quite good. Especially if they are fresh from a bakery

You would break the heart of their PR dept :OD

I have never had too much luck with the coffee art either. The coffees look spot on though!

Haha yeah. They can say anything on those things really. The only differences that I can tell are bitter or acidic really. I'm not a huge fan of acidic coffees personally.

Me neither. I liked em earthy and chocolatey. Lol. When they say things like apple or citrus on the pan I steer well clear

Yeah those are great flavors for coffee indeed. Fruity means acidic it seems lol.

They make a helluva ice pack, too. Frozen peas are my go-to but frozen blueberries are good at bumps and bruises.

Whaddup.

Lol yeah I can see that. But then you have to eat a shit ton of blueberries afterwards because they thaw out so quickly 😅

Those breakfasts and coffees look really delicious.

The price of bacon is really overpriced, but I agree with you, a lot of fat with great taste.

Yeah. I like it on occasion but I don't get all the hype over it. The cheap bacon is almost inedible too, in my opinion. I find that it tastes like synthetic smoke flavoring and other chemicals 😆
