Not even a goodbye.

Morris stepped into his favourite restaurant six months after he thought he had gotten over Esther ghosting him.

They met at the restaurant about 13 months ago when he came there for lunch as usual. She was sitting at his favourite spot and with an extra seat at the table, Morris made up his mind to join her.

"Good afternoon miss, do you mind if I join you?"

Esther raised her head to see who it was and she couldn't say no to the handsome and charming figure standing in front of her.

"Why not? Please sit" she replied.

Morris gently dragged the chair out and sat.

"I love the view from here and this is my favourite spot, it is the first time someone else is occupying it at this time. It could be a sign from God" Morris said jokingly and Esther only laughed at his joke.

"Waiter!" Morris called and as he was about to ask if Esther wanted anything other than what was on the table, she got out of her seat and was about to leave.

"So soon miss, can I at least know your name?" He asked.

"Sorry, I have to resume work back. My name is Esther"

"Beautiful name, can we meet again?"

"Yes of course, since you eat lunch here, we will be seeing each other again." She replied and left.

Morris wouldn't stop smiling as she walked out of the restaurant. He finished what he ordered and couldn't wait for the next day to meet Esther.

He was at the restaurant earlier the next day and patiently waited. Seeing her walk in made him happy and they got to know each other better while eating.

"I like very industrious ladies, a lot of ladies out there need to learn from you." Morris complimented Esther and she said good things about him being career-oriented as well.

Their friendship started from that moment and they became really close friends. They met at the restaurant and visited clubs on Fridays.

Exactly four months after they met, Morris asked her out. He was in love and couldn't resist Esther anymore.

"Honestly, I would like us to remain friends," Esther replied to him immediately after he asked her out.

It wasn't the response he was expecting from Esther and Morris didn't stop trying until she said yes.

Esther was loved him but something was holding her back which Morris couldn't figure out and she wouldn't open up about it.

Exactly seven months after they met, Esther didn't show up at the restaurant as usual.

Morris didn't know where she lived since she only wanted them to meet at restaurants, parks and other open places. He went to her place of work and one of the staff was nice enough to tell him that she only came for a six-month contract, she stayed an extra month because of a little delay.

Morris didn't believe his ears, he called severally but the line wasn't going through. He couldn't reach her on social media and Morris felt very bad.

"Did she ghost me? Why would she do such?" George thought about her every day and he stopped visiting the restaurant just to get her memory away.

The day he thought he had completely forgotten about Esther was about six months later. Morris walked into the restaurant and there was no change in the place.

He turned in the direction of his favourite spot and a lady was sitting there again. Morris was hesitant to join her but he couldn't resist that particular spot, he dragged himself there and said, "Hello".

He felt like everything was happening again.

What if Morris didn't read the signs she was showing him initially? It would hurt him really and having the same experience before doesn't mean it would happen again.

Everyone can't be same and when someone says no to him, he will definitely try to know why before insisting.

Yes, when people say no request there might be more to it.

Thank you.

It's always painful to try again, but if we don't we go stale inside. Filled with hate, remorse, grief. There's always a payment to give by doing nothing and by doing something. Good work!

Going through what happened before is not certain, Morris will thread with caution this time.

Perhaps history was about to repeat itself. Thank you for the beautiful script

Perhaps his second attempt at finding love in the café will turn out better. History rarely repeats itself exactly, but those recovering from being burned are reluctant to step near the fire again. Thank you for sharing your story in The Ink Well and for reading and commenting on the work of other community members. We only wish it had been revealed what happened to Esther!

Morris must have learned from the previous experience and not let history repeat itself.

I should have included what happened to Esther truly, can I still add to the story?
