Where I am simply alone because I have to go that way alone, I climb those stairs that you can see are very narrow, where only my body fits, and as I climb each step, the path becomes narrower... as if the walls on my right and left were closing in step by step. Each step seems to have been carved by my own effort, worn down by dreams that crashed and hopes that resist, and that resistance is what keeps me going.

There is no space because I decided it that way. The limited space helps me avoid distractions, and the silence of these stone walls forces me to listen to myself. I feel that each step upward requires letting go of the superficial, and it is precisely that which binds us, the superficial. I prefer not to want company along the way; I prefer to have conviction.

You don't climb those small stairs with a loud voice, you climb them with a steady heart. The slope does not forgive hesitation.

I always think that climbing is an exercise in willpower: each step involves sacrifices, adjustments, decisions. The best thing is that there are no signs indicating how much further there is to go, nor railings to rest on. Only oneself and the whisper of the goal at the end, that final goal that only I know where it is and that I have not yet reached, always in my mind is my other self, me, speaking softly to me, encouraging myself when the air is scarce and fatigue sets in.

Sometimes I think that these walls are not only getting narrower, but rather more demanding, forcing me to be more authentic, more essential. What is useless stays below, and it is better that it stays below so that it does not become a burden, and the same goes for what weighs me down. One cannot reach the summit with backpacks loaded with other people's fears or borrowed desires.

As they say, light barely filters through at the bottom. But that same dim light becomes my guide, my reason to keep going. And if I am aware that the path is tight, even though it scrapes my sides and forces me to bend over to continue...

I keep climbing.

Because I know that here, you don't succeed by running. You succeed by persisting. Because success isn't at the top, it's in the decision, but above all, in not giving up when everything seems closed off.

Donde simplemente solo sin compañía porque por esa vía necesariamente tengo que ir solo, voy por esa escalinata que puede ver que es muy muy estrecho, donde solo cabe mi cuerpo, y mientras subo cada escalón más angosto se hace el camino... como si las paredes que están a mi derecha y a mi izquierda se fueran cerrando paso a paso. No hay espacio porque yo lo decidí así, el poco espacio me sirve para que no haya distracciones, el silencio de estas paredes de piedras me obligan a escucharme. Siento que cada paso arriba exige desprenderse de lo superficial, y es preciso eso lo que nos ata, lo superficial, yo prefiero que en el camino no querer compañía, prefiero tener convicción.

Por esas pequeñas escaleras no se sube con la voz alta, se sube con el corazón firme. La pendiente no perdona titubeos.

Yo siempre voy pensando que subir es un ejercicio de voluntad: cada escalón implica renuncias, ajustes, decisiones. Lo mejor de todo es que no hay carteles que indiquen cuánto falta, ni barandales donde descansar. Solo uno mismo y el susurro de la meta al final, esa meta final que solo yo sé donde está y que aún no he llegado, siempre en mi mente está mi otro, yo, hablándome en voz baja, autoanimándome cuando el aire escasea y el cansancio aprieta.

A veces pienso que estas paredes no solo se hacen más estrechas, mas bien creo que son más exigentes, me obligan a ser más auténtico, más esencial. Lo que no sirve se queda abajo es mejor que se quede abajo para que no sea un lastre y lo que me pesa, también. Uno no alcanza la cima con mochilas cargadas de miedos ajenos o deseos prestados.

Como dicen por allí, el fondo apenas se filtra la luz. Pero esa misma luz tenue se convierte en mi guía, en mi razón de seguir. Y si estoy consiente de que el camino aprieta, aunque me raspa los costados y me obliga a doblarme para seguir...

Sigo subiendo.

Porque yo sé que aquí no se triunfa corriendo. Se triunfa persistiendo. Porque el éxito no está en la cima, está en la decisión, pero sobre todo de no abandonar cuando todo parece cerrado.
