Sweet Tea And Inheritance - #ZapFic1OO
Hello Hive. 😃 I'm back again with another @drabble.club microfiction, that is #zapfic100, inspired by the prompt "sweet tea" taken from @daily.prompt's post.
If you will like to write microfiction in 100 words, feel free to give this challenge a try.
The clicking sound of Edith's walking stick alerted Maisie. She dragged out a chair to the shaded verandah and sat down, awaiting her best friend. They were both in their early 80s and often share sweet tea in the afternoon.
"Oh, you're here," Edith exclaimed, a little breathy.
Maisie patted the chair beside her. "Sit. I've got a gist for you."
"Oh, goody." Maisie poured the tea. They both took some sips with their eyes closed, savouring the flavour and taste.
"Well?" Edith prompted.
"Remember old Thompson's barn? He willed it to me!"
"No!" Edith said in disbelief. They were old and still inheriting.
Thanks for reading!
