What was your favorite TV show as a child, and why did you like it?

Do you think it influenced your personality in any way as an adult?

It’s been so long since I left my childhood behind that the question caused a certain level of uncertainty for me. After all, childhood spans at least 12 years of life (and in the case of some people, several decades more 😆), of which I think we have memories starting from the age of 5 or 6… At least in my case!

So I suppose I had a series of "favorite" TV shows. For example, I remember really liking Care Bears, The Smurfs, The Pink Panther, among others.

Later, as I grew a bit older, I enjoyed Robotech, G.I. Joe, El Chavo del 8, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. But let’s provide some context: this period spanned from approximately 1986 to 1994. There was no internet, and I believe there weren’t cable channels either.

This reflects that children at that time didn’t have much to choose from. The only option was over-the-air TV channels, and I remember that to watch The Pink Panther, we had to attach an extra wire to the antenna to pick up an unknown channel!

The second question lingered with me a bit, because although psychology isn’t my professional field, I’ve read theories about supposed ways to subliminally influence people's minds—such as the use of what they call "Negative Priming"—and others that aren’t really relevant here. I don’t think any of my favorite shows influenced my personality, at least not beyond wanting my notebook covers to feature Care Bears designs!

Hace tanto tiempo que dejé atrás mi niñez que la pregunta me causó un cierto nivel de incertidumbre, ya que la niñez abarca al menos unos 12 años de la vida (y en el caso de algunas personas unas cuántas décadas más 😆) de los cuales creo que tenemos recuerdos a partir de los 5 a 6 años de edad... Al menos en mi caso!

Así que supongo que pasé por una serie de programas de televisión "favoritos", por ejemplo, recuerdo que me gustaban mucho "Los Ositos Cariñositos", "Los Pitufos", "La Pantera Rosa" entre otros.

Ya siendo una niña un poco mayor, me gustaban "Robotech", "J.I. Joe", "El Chavo del 8" y "Sabrina La Bruja Adolescente" ... Pero hay que contextualizar un poco, esa época abarcaba de 1986 a 1994, aproximadamente. No había internet, y creo que tampoco canales de cable.

Eso refleja que realmente los niños en esa época no teníamos mucho de dónde elegir, la única alternativa eran los canales de aire, y recuerdo que para ver la Pantera Rosa, debiamos poner un alambre extra a la antena, para que sintonizara un canal desconocido!

La segunda pregunta me quedó resonando un poco, porque aunque la psicología no es mi ámbito profesional, he leído teorías sobre supuestas formas de influir de forma subliminal en la mente de las personas, la utilización de lo que llaman "Primado Negativo", y otras que no vienen mucho al caso... Y creo que ninguno de mis programas favoritos haya podido influir en mi personalidad, al menos no más allá de querer los forros de mis cuadernos con diseños de los Cariñositos!
