Mukumbari Cableway - My Experience At Over 4700 Meters [ENG -ESP]
This last month was quite busy, stressful and exhausting, I did not have time to just be in Hive and the reason is easy but also exciting, I was finishing my university career, but before this month so complicated I could enjoy the last field trip of the career where after the academic part we could enjoy a little tourism in the city of Merida, Venezuela and that is precisely the purpose of this post, share my experience for the first time in the highest and longest cable car in the world the Mukumbari cable car.
The Mukumbari cable car is located in the city of Merida and at the end of its 5 stations we arrived at the station Pico Espejo at an altitude of more than 4700 meters above sea level, from the moment of arriving at the first station the view of the cable car is simply amazing, the view of the mountains, the houses at the base of the mountain and the most impressive the second station at the top of the mountain barely visible and the hanging cables, what caused me more fear at the beginning was to think that soon I would be ascending.
The experience in the cable car was simply incredible, the different routes ascending from station to station, while we were ascending in the cable car cabin and seeing how in some occasions a cabin passed by on the opposite side descending. During the ascent, the day was cloudy so that in almost all the way we could only see the fog, an infinite white curtain that did not let us see anything else and that I must admit caused some concern not knowing if we were still ascending or the cabin had stopped, but in the end it was worth it to get to the mirror peak with the cold and the fog decorating every scene, although the only uncomfortable thing was that the route ascends in one go to the last station without giving you time to adapt to the height.

At the top of the Pico Espejo we can see the Virgin Mary guarding the whole place, a simply beautiful view as well as the open air corridor that we can walk through to get to her, After arriving to the last station we were able to spend a good time appreciating the place and adapting to the altitude to then begin the progressive descent through the other stations and thus also see the attractions of the other stations hundreds of meters below, in one of the stations below there is an old cable car cabin which surprisingly looks much more spacious than the current ones but not as comfortable as the new ones.

I think the most unexpected thing was to find a stable with horses in the fourth station, with a considerable altitude and a very strong cold it was interesting to see a small stable and several horses on the mountain to be able to have horseback rides, there was also a man I was told from one of the villages of the mountain selling homemade cheese, the surprising thing was his adaptation to the cold, I was completely covered and still felt very cold, but despite this the man was with a simple clothing and seemed to feel hardly cold, it's amazing how they get used to the cold. It was really a very exciting and simply memorable experience to climb to the top in the highest cable car in the world, an experience that without a doubt I recommend to everyone, even though we were not lucky enough to get to the top when there was a snowfall.

without a doubt it was a unique experience, I liked it a lot although I doubt I will want to repeat it soon, the only thing that made me uneasy was going up in the cable car hahaha not that I love heights haha
it was indeed a wonderful experience. the place is awesome and interesting. i wish i could climb the place someday too.
it's just beautiful, the very cold but the view and everything very nice, it must be even better when it's all snowy :D
This experience sounds absolutely amazing! The view from the Mukumbari cable car must be breathtaking. I can only imagine how exciting and a bit nerve-wracking it was to ascend so high. The mix of fog and cold adds such a unique touch. I hope I can visit this place someday too!
hahaha going up without knowing if the cabin was moving or not was priceless. i hope you can go to the cable car soon, it's a very nice place and i recommend that experience to everyone :D
