THE ONES I WEAR TO SURVIVE

Today I’ll be sharing with you a new artwork i created recently using ballpoint pen and charcoal on paper.

They said,
“Be strong.”
So I wore the fiercest face—
Even when my knees trembled.

They said,
“Be quiet.”
So I stitched my voice
Behind teeth made of silence.

They said,
“Be like us.”
So I carried their masks
Until I forgot my own reflection.

But in the stillness between their voices,
I heard mine—
Soft, cracked,
Still breathing.
