The need we have for sustainable and reliable solutions makes it possible to meet the growing demand for energy that would be more and more pressing. Brazilian startup tidalwatt offers us an underwater turbine generation that is designed to capture energy from the ocean.
Renewable energy such as solar and wind power have experienced significant progress in recent years, but it still faces some challenges in terms of ecosystems that are reliable when it comes to producing electricity.
Some of these renewable energy methods can have a negative impact on the ecosystem. That is why they find a renewable generation alternative that is conscious and respectful of the environment, becoming an innovative priority for the world.

In this environment, tidalwatt has designed a technology that could change the landscape of energy. This underwater turbine that is in charge of taking advantage of the energies of the marine currents that are very constant and predictable.
Unlike a conventional wind turbine that depends on the wind, it is in charge of continuously capturing the marine currents that is known as tidal energy.

This turbine is three meters in diameter and can produce 4.25 mw of energy with a current of 1.77 knots, which is equivalent to the power generated by a 180-meter wind turbine.
Despite having a diameter of 60 meters, this turbine can generate three times the energy required from the constant availability of the source.
Whereas a wind turbine on average could generate power like around 30% and the tidalwatt can generate 90% power which translates to more activity and more competition to meet energy demand.
The installation of this turbine is planned in places with current speeds greater than one knot. Each of these turbines generates 5 mw with a capacity that oscillates between 70% and 95%.

To avoid a negative impact on the surrounding ecosystem, an installation site away from coral reefs is chosen by which to provide a safe haven for various marine species.
