CRAMMING AT YOUR SERVICE: Black Panther DIY Mascot [ENG-ESP]

A SU SERVICIO: Mascota DIY de la Pantera Negra

Way back in year 2017, during in our intramurals, I was in 11th Grade that time. I have been assigned to make our own mascot which is the black panther, since we can't afford to buy a ready handmade mascot.

Allá por 2017, durante nuestras actividades intramuros, yo estaba en 11.º grado. Me asignaron hacer nuestra propia mascota, la pantera negra, ya que no podíamos permitirnos comprar una hecha a mano.

At first, I get some doubt to myself if I can do it all by myself. Yes, we can't deny that if we encounter such a thing that you don't have any knowledge or ideas on how to do it, sometimes we feel hesitate to do so.

Al principio, dudé si podría hacerlo yo solo. Sí, es cierto que, si nos encontramos con algo que no sabemos ni cómo hacer, a veces dudamos.

For me, it's a challenge and I faced it. Less than a week to prepare and there is no enough resources to buy all of the materials. Therefore, one of our teacher, Sir Gayle, gets an idea and suggested to use a bucket as a base for the head mascot and he also gave a budget for it. And that's how it started and we collected an old newspapers as a filler to achieve the 3D output.

Para mí, fue un reto y lo afronté. Menos de una semana para prepararlo y no había suficientes recursos para comprar todos los materiales. Por eso, a uno de nuestros profesores, Sir Gayle, se le ocurrió una idea y sugirió usar un cubo como base para la mascota de la cabeza, y también nos dio un presupuesto. Así empezó todo: recolectamos periódicos viejos como relleno para lograr el resultado en 3D.

As an artist, it's also hard to imagine and how to mold it to achieve the black panther's head. Take note, that is my FIRST EVER DIY MASCOT has been made. And also I didn't see a panther in real life. That time in our generation, the videos coming from the internet is not totally popular, or any tutorial on how to make a mascot especially the black panther to be a specific. Then, I only rely on the sample pictures of a panther coming from the Google. It's too hard right? Unlike this day, it's so easy to access so many resources using an internet.

Como artista, también es difícil imaginar y moldear la cabeza de la pantera negra. Ojo, esta es mi PRIMERA MASCOTA DIY. Y además, nunca vi una pantera en persona. En aquella época, los vídeos de internet no eran muy populares, ni tampoco ningún tutorial sobre cómo hacer una mascota, especialmente la pantera negra, para ser específico. Por eso, solo me baso en fotos de muestra de panteras que encuentro en Google. Es muy difícil, ¿verdad? A diferencia de hoy, es muy fácil acceder a muchos recursos a través de internet.

I'm happy for the result, and new experience unlocked! And guess what, our mascot is the champion among the others' entry. I'm grateful for all the persons who helped me and support to finished my work on time. Me as an artist, I'm so proud to myself!

Estoy feliz por el resultado y por haber desbloqueado una nueva experiencia. Y, ¿adivinen qué?, nuestra mascota es la ganadora entre las demás. Agradezco a todas las personas que me ayudaron y me apoyaron para terminar mi trabajo a tiempo. Como artista, ¡estoy muy orgulloso de mí mismo!

I realized that in every situation that we encounter in our life we must face it. I know sometimes it's hard but a lot of person will help you,in terms of support, financially, and many more that you will need to achieve the success.

Me di cuenta de que en cada situación que enfrentamos en la vida debemos afrontarla. Sé que a veces es difícil, pero muchas personas te ayudarán con apoyo financiero y muchas otras cosas que necesitarás para alcanzar el éxito.

I would like to share on how to make this mascot. And it is my pleasure to share it, so that you can get some ideas on it. 😊😊😊

MATERIALS:

For Head
👉1 piece of plastic bucket
👉old newspapers / recycled paper
👉soldering iron

For Ears
👉illustration board

For Eyes:
👉bondpaper

Other Materials to be used:
👉masking tape
👉packaging tape
👉stick glue
👉all purpose glue
👉cutter
👉scissor
👉color paint (black)
👉paint brush
👉black marker (for face, eyes and ears pattern)

Para la cabeza:
👉1 cubo de plástico
👉Periódicos viejos o papel reciclado
👉Soldador

Para las orejas:
👉Cartulina para ilustraciones

Para los ojos:
👉Papel bond

Otros materiales:
👉Cinta de carrocero
👉Cinta de embalaje
👉Pegamento en barra
👉Pegamento multiusos
👉Cúter
👉Tijeras
👉Pintura de color (negra)
👉Pincel
👉Marcador negro (para el diseño de la cara, los ojos y las orejas)

PROCEDURE/PROCEDIMIENTO

Using a bucket, put it into downwards position and make some outline (use a marker) for the face of a panther. Put some holes into rectangle shape in the eyes area using a soldering iron, for sighting of the person when put it on the head.

Con un cubo, colócalo boca abajo y dibuja el contorno (con un marcador) de la cara de una pantera. Haz agujeros rectangulares en la zona de los ojos con un soldador para ver a la persona al colocarlo en la cabeza.

After that, using a stick glue, attached the crumpled newspapers to achieve the 3D effect one by one. And you can also use an all purpose glue if not directed to the pale to add some crumpled paper.

Después, con pegamento en barra, pegué los periódicos arrugados uno por uno para lograr el efecto 3D. También puedes usar pegamento multiusos si no está indicado para la pintura para añadir papel arrugado.

Then, to support the molded papers we're going to use packaging tape and for finish touch of it, use the masking tape so that it's easy to paint it with color black.

Luego para sujetar los papeles moldeados vamos a utilizar cinta de embalaje y para darle el toque final utilizaremos cinta de carrocero para que sea fácil pintarlo de color negro.

For the ears, using an illustration board draw the desired ears and can be fit to its head, cut it and attach it.

Para las orejas, utilizando un tablero de ilustración dibuja las orejas deseadas y colócalas en su cabeza, recórtalas y pégalas.

For the panther's whiskers, use an illustration board. And put the eyes also.

*Para los bigotes de la pantera, usa una cartulina. Y dibuja también los ojos.

And lastly, for it's mouth, you can add it's teeth using an illustration board (the white part). Cut it into two triangle shape.

Y por último, para la boca, puedes añadir los dientes usando una cartulina (la parte blanca). Córtala en dos triángulos.
