Well, I took the plunge and thought about it: if I could swap lives with any fictional character for a day, who would it be?.

After some serious thoughts (and yes, a lot of internal debate), I've decided to pick Jude Duarte from The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black.

Jude is fierce, complex, and let me be honest, she's living in one of the most dangerously enchanting worlds I can imagine.

The first thing I'd probably do? Sharpen my wits and my sword, because in a land of faeries, it's not just your power that matters - it's how well you play the game.

Jude life revolves around surviving in a world where she's considered an outsider. Every interaction, every move, requires strategy. From morning to night, I'd be navigating deadly political web of the Faerie courts, trying to keep my enemies close and my allies even closer.

But what makes Jude's life particularly fascinating is her connection to Cardan, who's as volatile as he is charming.
As the day progresses, I'd likely be caught in one of their many confrontations - Cardan's taunting remarks and Jude's sharp retorts. The tension between them is electric, and I can't imagine a dull moment when you're dealing with someone like him.

Whether we're battling it out or striking a dangerous deal, the stakes would be high, and I'd have to be on my toes.

Cardan is the epitome of power in Elfame, a creature who's both beautiful and dangerous, with a cruel streak that runs deep. Jude, despite her mortal origins, is constantly trying to prove herself to him and to the rest of the Faeries who look down on her. But there's something about Cardan's unpredictable nature that keeps Jude - and readers - on their toes.

Living Jude's life for a day would mean navigating this incredibly complicated relationship. There's a part of Jude that constantly drawn to Cardan, even though she knows he's dangerous. She knows better than anyone that trust is a luxury she can't afford, especially when dealing with someone like him. But still, the moments where they let down their guard and their chemistry is undeniable, would make for some intense moments.

If I were Jude, I'd likely find myself caught between wanting to get closer to Cardan and trying to stay emotionally detached, knowing that giving in could lead to disaster. Every glance, every word exchanged, would be charged with something more, making their entire dynamic a tense, electrifying experience.

Of course, life as Jude isn't all about navigating the complexities of a relationship with Cardan. Being Jude for a day would not be all glamour and magic.

How far would I be willing to go for power? How much of my humanity would I be willing to sacrifice in order to survive? it would definitely be a mentally exhausting day, to say the least.

What would I take back to my life?
After a day in Jude's shoes, I'd return to my real life with a sense of awe - and maybe a little bit of exhaustation. I'd definitely take away Jude's ability to stay calm under pressure and her fierce determination. She never lets anything or anyone stand in her way, and while I wouldn't want to be caught in her web of deception, I admire her resilence, I'd probaby also take back some of her strategic thinking skills - because, honestly, navigating that kind of world requires a sharp mind.

And, of course, I'd have a newfound appreciation for the simple things in life. After spending a day in Elfame, where everything is so high-stakes, I'd probably be grateful for a quiet evening in my own world with no faerie polities or life-threatening situations.

And of course, I'd also carry back the lessons from her complicated relationship with Cardan. Their push-and-pill dynamic is a reminder of how complicated loce and trust can be, especially when dealing with someone who is just as unpredictable and dangerous as he is.
