Our First Time Attending Mass at a Local Church Here at Camiguin Island

Hello hivers! How was your Sunday? Supposed to be I have to post it yesterday but I posted first my entry on the weekly challenge. I was very happy because at last we are able to attend a mass here locally. We've been in the island for about 3 months and this is our first time attending a mass. Last Sunday we went to the church that morning but unfortunately the mass will be held in the afternoon and they told us that it happens once a month that mass is in the afternoon so I haven't prepared and afternoon are my kid's nap time.

This Sunday even though it's cloudy day and sometimes a little bit rainy but we pursue to come to the church because it's just 5 minutes walk from our house. And I was surprised there are few people who come to church. What surprise me first is noticing that it was kids and elderly are the main people at the church. I think we are the only people who aged between 20's at the church. So it's a sad thing.

Then I look around and their church was big. Bigger space and cooler ambiance. The people are very friendly and approachable. My kids are busy playing with other kids at the church.

The preacher has a good voice, strong and powerful so it's not a sleepy discussion. About the songs, I was surprised they also had the same songs as ours but mostly I don't know the songs. At the Psalm section, they only read it because in our church we use to sing it. They also had shortage of Eucharist, I don't know if it happens every time but I appreciate how the local preacher break it in half so everyone can have the holy Eucharist.

It was very memorable to me because my husband is always busy at his job. And today he was able to accompany me going to church. I can't go alone bringing this two kids because they are so naughty and I can't guard both of them at the same time.

That's all for today hivers, I am looking forward to have more Sundays and more church together with my family. When I was a kid my mother always bring us to church and that's what I'm doing too so my kids can be like me when they grow up.

I really admire your family for attending mass at the local church. It’s similar to temples here, mostly elderly attendees unless there’s a festival, which brings in younger people and children. Thank you for sharing 😍

I see. I was shocked here because only elderly bringing their grand children. In my hometown we have an association for teenagers, but here they don't have that's why I can't see teenagers at church

It’s great that you finally attended mass at your local church after a few months. I love how you and your family made it work despite the weather and kids’ schedules. I wish you many more beautiful Sundays together as a family!🥰

Attending church together as family is the best choice to spend our Sundays. God never asks us something we couldn't give, it's just our time and we always have it if we really manage and schedule it properly. We have seven days a week and we only give a portion of our Sunday to God. God bless your family. Stay close yo God and make Him the center.

Hahaha a lot. I had eaten yesterday. Because local people said that sea urchins are bigger and good to harvest if it's full moon

I really enjoyed reading about your first mass experience on the island. It’s touching how, despite the cloudy weather and few attendees, you and your family made the effort to go together. I can imagine how special it must have been to have your husband accompany you, especially with two energetic kids to manage. The warm and friendly atmosphere you described made the church feel welcoming and comforting. I hope you get many more Sundays like this, filled with family, faith, and happiness.
