My Origami Paper Boat for the Asean Hive Week 149 Challenge "Origami Odyssey": Colors Themed After My Country's Flag
Hello Hivers! How was your day?
Last Tuesday, I saw the new challenge in the asean hive community which is the origami Odyssey. One thing that sinks in my mind is the paper boat. This is very meaningful to me. I have two younger brothers and sometimes when they play during their free time they always ask me to make a paper airplane and paper boat. So today as part of the challenge I'm going to make a paper boat.
My paper boat has 4 colors and it signifies the color of my country's flag. It is blue, yellow, white and red but my red colored paper looks like orange or it is faded and crumpled because this is used already. And I started it in the blue color paper.
Here are the steps:
- Fold the paper into crosswise.
2.Fold it to make a two triangle that meets at the center.
3.Fold upward the bottom part of the triangle both sides.
4.Open the triangle forming a cone and flip it in opposite direction then flip upward the bottom part.
5.Then open the cut in between and you had finally the paper boat. Make sure to sharpen edges of the paper to have a clear cut or clear edges.
And finally, the finish product was a beautiful paper boat. I know it is something hard to understand in text directions so I made a video for you to watch the step by step process.
I choose to have a color designation in my art today. I wanted to show love and support in my country amidst the rising issue. To elaborate it:
The white color represents liberty, equality and fraternity.
The blue color represents peace, truth, justice and sacrifice.
The red color represents patriotism, valor, bravery and courage. (I am very sorry for not having a super red one here, I cannot buy in the store because there is no available so I used it from my crumpled papers, that is why it is faded and not having a plain texture.)
And the yellow one represents unity, freedom, democracy and sovereignty.
For me this aseanhive challenge reminds me of my younger self. I used to play this paper boat too. I believe this was taught by teachers at school when I was elementary and high school. Also my late grandfather taught me these. And today I'm passing this art to my brothers and in the future to my kids. While I made it they keep on watching me and tell me they want it. After taking pictures of the finished product I gave it to my kids and they are very happy on it. And I'm looking forward to teach it to them in the future. This is an art that can be practiced by them. Aside from being easy it's affordable. And it think this is not just a paper but a great sight at home which brings knowledge to me and fun to my kids.
And that's all for today Hivers! Thank you so much for taking time looking at my posts. See you in my next blog.
Have a great Sunday!

This awesome origami boat has been prepared through the use of paper with amazing skill. I especially like to do paper work with ease. But this boat has a huge heritage hidden behind it which I wholeheartedly believe. Thank you so much for introducing such a creative industry to us.
@mdakash62 thank you so much that you appreciate my work. I was so inspired to make it as my inspiration is our country's flag
Yes my pleasure I am from Bangladesh you my pleasure
I remember making these boat origamis when I was in elementary school. It was fun especially with the use of different colored papers. The colors you've chosen have meaningful thoughts behind them. It's good to uplift our spirits especially with the negative turn of political events in our country. We can make plenty of these, and hang them outside on Independence Day. Just an imagination though. I am most attracted to the blue one.
@bettsmarie09 yeah hanging them on independence day must be a great idea. I'll gonna make it but this time it's a paper airplane because its a plane who took our president 😭
Ohh, yes paper airplane, that makes sense, but another sad meaning to it huhu...
Hopefully another plane will fly him back home with victory.
We are hoping for positive outcome.
i know how to make paper boat, paper plane when i was a kid, but i forgot it already. thank you for teaching how to make paper boat now i remember already. I wanna try this, I'm sure my kids love it.
@badeth34 you're welcome❤ it's quite nostalgic upon seeing the finish product. Because when I was young I was also playing this and when I grew up it was my brothers and kids who play it
