During my city wanderings and with my soul as a self-taught photographer, I try to capture through the lens of my Samsung Galaxy phone everything that seems interesting around me.
This building I’m showing you here crossed my path during one of my many walks through the Cuban capital.

This is another "Big Ben" of Havana, with the difference that this one’s clock hasn’t worked in a long time. Of course, I had seen it many times before when passing by on a bus or other transport, but today I had the chance to see it up close and photograph it. Because of its shape and its vivid colors—that mix of blue and white—it has always looked to me like a giant birthday cake in the shape of a castle.

As you can see, it’s a building with a very beautiful and classic structure. It is currently a very busy place because it houses the headquarters of Etecsa (the only telecommunications company in Cuba) in Marianao. It is located on the corner of Calle 106 and Avenida 251 (the Central Highway of Cuba). I myself have had to go there more than once for certain paperwork, since the Commercial Office and related departments are located there.

As I learned, it was built in the 1920s by the Cuban Telephone Company, and to this day it has always belonged to the telephone company. This was one of the first telephone exchanges in Havana. Today, it still serves its original function, although its interior spaces have been transformed. This is another of the architectural marvels of Cuba's capital.

Hola, mis amigos. Reciban mi saludo afectuoso y mis mejores vibras.

Durante mis andanzas citadinas y con mi alma de fotógrafa empírica, intento capturar con el lente de la cámara de mi teléfono Samsung Galaxy, todo lo que resulta interesante a mi alrededor.
Este edificio que les muestro aquí se cruzó en mi camino en una de mis tantas caminatas por la capital cubana.

Este es otro "Big Ben" de la Habana, con la diferencia de que a este no le funciona el reloj desde hace mucho tiempo. Claro ta lo había visto muchas veces cuando he pasado por ahí en guagua u otros transportes, pero fue hoy que tuvevka oportunidad de verlo bien de cerca y poder fotografiarlo. Por su forma y por sus colores vivos, esa mezcla de azul y blanco, siempre me ha parecido un pastel de cumpleaños gigante (cake) en forma de castillo.

Como bien se aprecia es un inmueble con una estructura muy hermosa y clásica. Es actualmente un sitio muy concurrido por ser la Sede de Etecsa (única empresa de telecomunicaciones de Cuba) en Marianao. Se encuentra ubicado en la esquina de calle 106 y la Avenida 251 (Carretera Central de Cuba). Yo misma he tenido que visitarlo más de una vez para ciertos trámites ya que allí se encuentran las Oficina Comercial y departamentos afines.

Según supe, fue construido en los años 20 del pasado siglo por la Cuban Telephone Company y hasta la fecha siempre ha sido de la Compañía Telefónica. Esta fue una de las primeras centrales telefónicas de La Habana. Hoy sigue manteniendo su función inicial, aunque sus espacios han sido transformados. Esta es otra de las maravillas arquitectónicas de la capital de Cuba.
