Reflection Hunters Contest Round 246 The Fountain of the Americas (Eng-Esp)

The Fountain of the Americas is a sculptural work located right at the exit of the 5th Avenue Tunnel, at the northeastern entrance of Miramar, in the Playa municipality. It features four Nereids (or Greek muses) who, like caryatids, hold giant oyster shells above their heads, from which the water emitted by the fountain gently falls (or used to fall). It also bears the carved Cuban national coat of arms.

There was a time, after I moved to the capital, when this fountain served as the weekly meeting point for me and some friends who were literature enthusiasts. We gathered there every Saturday at a specific time in the afternoon and then headed to the house of one of them, who lived very close to this area of Miramar. Today, I cherish that memory as something that contributed to my spiritual and personal growth. However, back then, I didn't have a phone, so I took the opportunity to visit the area on the Sunday before last when I was going to the theater and took this photo.

Hola, hivers. Que placer saludarlos y volver a esta magnifica comunidad.

Es para mi un placer llegar a esta comunidad para mostrarles esta imagen y compartir algunas reflexiones acerca de ella y su participación en mi vida, porque en este sitio tuve, años después, recuerdos gratos. Cuando visité la Habana por primera vez, allá por los años 90, esta fuente fue una de las maravillas que más llamó mi atención por su belleza. En aquella época, aún echaba agua y tenía un aspecto más cuidado. Es curioso como las constelaciones se alinean para que coincidan las cosas que uno anhela.
