Cerveza Sahara/Sahara Beer (Esp-Eng)
Hello, hivers. A greeting to everyone, especially to the members of this community, lovers of good drinking.
I’m a beer enthusiast—what can I do? My passion for this precious liquid is news of national and international domain, which is why those who know me often invite me to drink it. Of course, I have my preferences, as there are many varieties of beer out there. But as a good drinker, I’m always open and willing to experiment with other flavors.
If the beer is nice and cold and the heat simulates 35 degrees, I can down a can almost in one go. Today, I met up with a dear friend to catch up on personal and work matters, in a small local spot, a very cozy private business, and I tried the beer I’m bringing you for the first time. We were served by a kind young woman, and she was the one who made the suggestion.
Upon seeing its name, the first thing that came to my mind was the Sahara desert, a harem full of women eager to be the lucky one of the day, the erotic dances of ladies with veils and tunics, Turkish novels, and even the harmful Sahara dust that arrives here and causes so much havoc to the skin. I saw myself dancing barefoot and jumping on the hot sand, and I even saw myself riding a camel. They were absurd thoughts that I couldn’t avoid.
Sahara Gold Beer is a brand that includes several varieties of beer, mainly known for its Sahara Gold Beer 5.2° (the one from today). However, it’s important to distinguish it from “Sahara,” which is a different Moroccan spiritual drink made with figs, apricots, almonds, and honey. It’s a completely different product that has nothing to do with beer.
I immediately set out to investigate and learned that the Sahara Gold Beer product range mainly consists of three varieties, each with different intensity: Sahara Gold Beer 5.2°, 5.2% vol (the one I drank today). This is a full-bodied beer, with a smooth flavor, golden color, and delicious bitterness. For moments of relaxation or to refresh the throat after spending two hours listening to and reading poetry, as was the case today.
There’s also Sahara Gold Beer 10° Extra Strong, 10% vol. Which, according to what I read, has a stronger flavor and character, amber-brown color. Designed for “party nights.” And finally, Sahara Gold Beer 16° Mega Strong, 16% vol. The most intense variety, with a full-bodied flavor and rich bitterness. Made to be enjoyed slowly. These last two, I don’t think they’re sold around here, at least I’ve never seen them.
According to the manufacturer, Sahara Gold Beer is brewed following a traditional Spanish recipe (the geographical and historical proximity of Spain to the Arab world is well known) with high-quality ingredients like premium malt barley, water from underground springs in the Pyrenees, and a special yeast that gives it a unique flavor. It’s presented and marketed in golden-colored cans quite similar to gold.
I really liked feeling a new flavor on my palate, I liked its smell and its color. I know I could have had two more Sahara Gold Beers, but the budget only allowed for three, and with them we were pleased, content, and satisfied. For now, I’m left with the taste of Sahara Gold Beer until the day, not too far away, when it’s time to continue discovering the new flavors of the many beers that still await me.
