White Sulfur Hot Springs | Alaska [ENG-GER]

Like always we leave early morning from Elfin Cove so that we can arrive at the Hot springs and spend some time there before dark, we were here last year but we didn't really go completely into the west arm; this year however we wanted go further in.

This is Alaska... l didn't realize how good this shot was until l opened it with my computer, what do you think about this? Wanna come for a holiday haha?

Was haltet ihr davon? Lust, mal Urlaub zu machen, haha?

How we got in:

It wasn't easy l can tell you that much...

dji_fly_20250823_100154_656_1755972140137_photo_optimized.jpg

We didn't realize that we came in on full low-tide, our depth meter starting beeping as it was getting way too shallow - we decided to drop the dingy and check the way again to double check that we would make it. This was the part where we thought that we couldn't go through...

It was a good choice that we got our dingy down and checked the depth manually, our mistake was that we were too far to the right and had to hug the left side.

halten mussten.

Just to imagine, our boat is 6.5 meters wide and this channel is maybe around 10 meters wide which leaves less than 2 meters meters on each side, is it worth risk? YES!

JA!

Now it was time to head for the Hot Springs, as we had everything ready and we were about to hop into the dingy - out of nowhere came out two cubs and a huge mama bear, they heard us but l still managed to get some sort of a shot...

We saw them for about 10 minutes and then saw them again whilst we were driving to the start of the trail.

The start of the trail was marked with a little sign hidden by some branches...

Me and my brother were specifically happy about going to the hot spring as we had to fix the toilet and it was quite messy - but we were happy to be clean very soon!

As l mentioned in my other blog yesterday, Alaska's land is mushy and muddy but what makes it even worse is the wood which is used for the trail - overtime it gets so slippery that it's better just to stay off the trail sometimes.

Now for the photo that stand above all:

We always think about Alaska as a land of ice and snow, but your post tells another interesting story. What a great selection of photos! Thanks for sharing :)

I'm amazed how it looks like that. Those lush trees and green mountains are superb. It's like virgin mountains and shapes like a volcano.
