Clapp Basin | Haida Gwaii, Canada [ENG-GER]
Clapp Basin:

Usually as winter comes along, most sailors which don't have a proper boat that can handle the winter weather like our boat we head on down towards Vancouver or even further down to Mexico, but before we were going to do that we wanted to see Haida Gwaii. Now Haida Gwaii isn't just another normal island its where the natives used to live and till this day their are totems on the islands down south which l will talk about in the following blogs. Let's get going...

Usually you wouldn't go as far north as we did into Clapp Basin but for us we had some really strong south winds coming up so we thought this anchorage would be the best hidden from the wind.

After getting the first few shots, l found this little clearance and thought of lining up the boat in the shot.
Final Shot:

A little history of Clapp Basin:
Clapp Basin is at the end of Rennell Sound on Haida Gwaii. The area has a long history with the Haida people, who have lived in Haida Gwaii for thousands of years and purely living off the ocean and land resources.

From the 1960s to the mid-1980s, Clapp Basin was the site of a busy logging camp (just to the left of this shot) which to our surprise we actually saw some ruins. The camp opened each spring and closed for the winter, and workers and their families lived there in simple homes.

In later years, the area around Clapp Basin became part of the "Duu Guusd" Heritage Site and Conservancy. This conservancy is managed together by the Haida Nation and the government of British Columbia. Now, Clapp Basin is a beautiful peaceful place that anyone can visit, by boat or by car - it's like a living museum.

Just in front of this image we went on land, as went went further into the deeps of the forest it seems so unnaturally flat and after exploring further it seemed like this place was used as a camp as there were multiple benches and toilets which unfortunately were completely broken down. We even found an open hole which was about 3 meters deep which is about 9 feet which of course is a hazards not only to humans exploring but animals, so we put a few thick branches over the hole for safety.

Beautiful photos, keep posting in the drone community, it's strange not to see snow at this time of year
Well these photos were taken about two months ago and currently we are headed down south to Mexico so l won't have any more "drone photos" of snow sadly.
