Día Internacional de la Enfermería./ International Nursing Day.

En México se había celebrado el Día de la Enfermera el 6 de Enero desde el año de 1931, se hacía doble celebración ya que ese mismo día se celebraba el Día de los Santos Reyes o Día de los Reyes Magos, así era doble celebración al año ya que también se celebraba el Día Internacional de la Enfermería el 12 de mayo.

Realmente yo solo lo pude celebrar así a partir del 2020, año en el que comencé a laborar en el área de enfermería, sin embargo a partir del 2022 la celebración ha cambiado ya que la secretaría de salud decidió adoptar el 12 de Mayo Día Internacional de la Enfermería como única celebración.

En el Hospital donde laboro la celebración comienza días antes en los que se llevan a cabo las jornadas de enfermería donde se realizan varios cursos de actualización, son dos días de intensa actividad en los que se convoca a asistir y se permia a lo mas destacado en cuanto al servicio de enfermería.

En años anteriores nos celebraban durante la guardia con una rica y modesta cena que incluía espagueti, ensalada, tamal, sanwichon y pastel, aun que cada quien cenara en su área de trabajo, ya que no se pueden descuidar a los pacientes, se agradecía su intención, así también nos daban un pequeño presente simbólico para agradecer nuestro trabajo.

Esta ocasión fue un poco diferente ya que por cambio de gobierno, directivos y jefatura, no se nos brindó la cena, solo el pequeño presente:

In the hospital where I work, the celebration begins days before, when the nursing conferences are held, where several refresher courses are held. These are two days of intense activity in which the most outstanding in nursing services are invited to attend and are allowed to attend.

In previous years we were celebrated during the shift with a rich and modest dinner that included spaghetti, salad, tamale, sanwichon and cake, even though everyone dined in their work area, since the patients could not be neglected, their intention was appreciated, and we were also given a small symbolic present to thank us for our work.

This time it was a little different because due to the change of government, directors and management, we were not given dinner, only a small gift:

Fue algo triste, pero hubo algo realmente rescatable, un grupo de estudiantes que realiza sus prácticas en el servicio en el que me encontraba, se unió para comprarnos un postre para que no pasara desapercibido el día, esas son cosas y gestos que en verdad se valoran, fue una larga guardia en la que nos hicieron sentir apapachados.

It was a little sad, but there was something really remarkable, a group of students who are doing their internships in the service where I was, joined to buy us a dessert so that the day would not go unnoticed, those are things and gestures that are truly valued, it was a long watch in which we were made to feel appreciated.

Realmente sentí mas el valor de ser enfermera, sin esperar nada y recibir mucho, la verdad es que la guardia inició algo pesada ya que entrando tuvimos que amortajar una paciente, realmente es triste cuando hay una partida, pero el agradecimiento y confianza que mostraron las demás pacientes, el respeto que los médicos mostraban al solicitar las cosas y el gesto de los estudiantes nos hicieron la guardia, son cosas que en verdad se agradecen.

Ese fue mi día y mi sentir, llegué cansada a la casa pero con muchas ganas de seguir en esto. Aquí me despido hasta mi siguiente post esperando que este les haya gustado, saludos.

I really felt more the value of being a nurse, without expecting anything and receiving a lot, the truth is that the shift started a little heavy since we had to shroud a patient, it is really sad when there is a departure, but the gratitude and trust shown by the other patients, the respect that the doctors showed when they asked for things and the gesture of the students who made us the shift, are things that are really appreciated.
